Gibbon is a service that allows you to learn a variety of activities. And it's the best learning service I've found lately.
This is the best learning service I've used lately.
Despite the silly name (for us), Gibbon will be of great benefit to anyone who loves and wants to learn new things. This service will allow you to choose a topic that interests you and provide a lot of training materials on it.
On our first visit to Gibbon, we will be prompted to create an account or log in with Twitter, Google or Facebook. After that, a variety of learning topics will be provided to choose from. This includes various types of design, typography, startups, programming, marketing, science, and more.
There are really many topics, and under each of them you can see the number of students studying, as well as the number of materials.
After selecting the topics you want, your personal list of materials is created that covers all of these topics. For example, I chose two topics: inbound marketing and design fundamentals. This is how my list looks like.
At the top of the list, you can choose how much you want to practice - 10 to 30 minutes per day / week. Under each article, it is indicated how long it will take to study it. If you have selected several topics, then the given amount of time will be evenly distributed among them.
Most of the materials are articles that are created by users of the service. In general, the service has two types of users - students and teachers. Students are regular users who use the service for learning. Teachers, on the other hand, are the ones who fill Gibbon with useful information. Anyone can become a teacher, it is enough just to create your own topic and fill it with information. Mediocre and uninteresting topics or incompetent teachers are easily weeded out. They will simply not subscribe to them, namely, the number of followers determines whether at least someone will see your topic.
The reading interface is very user-friendly and not oversaturated with unnecessary elements. Each article is automatically marked as read as soon as you read it to the end.
One of the coolest things about this service is that it's completely free. For students. If you want to be a teacher and create private materials (useful for the corporate sphere, classrooms and more), then be prepared to buy one of the 3 premium packages.
If your level of English is enough to understand written language, I do not just advise, I insist that you try this service. The information is presented there in a concise and understandable form, because of this, only the most important thing remains in the articles. After reading a few articles about inbound marketing, I learned more about it than I did from a year at university.
Gibbon gives you an excellent opportunity to study completely free of charge, even without leaving your home. And if I were giving the 2014 Best Teaching Service Awards, you already know who would get the award.
