It would be nice to get a hefty portion of wisdom along with discharge from the hospital. But no. Life is tricky, unpredictable and does not give lessons on schedule. Some are very late.
1. Health is most important
Outrageously simple logic: investing in health from a young age is the foundation of future wellness. It is clear that some sores happen for reasons beyond our control. But you can protect yourself from many in advance. We often wave our hand to health in an infantile way, but in vain.
2. Waiting for the perfect moment is pointless
While we are planning to start a new life on Monday, from the first day of the month, in the new year - that very life passes. And we have one, unlike cats and Buddhists. There is no time for preparation, so enough rehearsal: the best performance has already begun.
3. Seek absolute happiness - too
There are far more than 50 shades of gray between white and black. And they are all pretty cute, take a closer look. Total control and fear of going beyond the edge of the white stripe is the path straight to black disappointment. It is more pleasant and safer not to rush to extremes and live somewhere in between.
4. Almost everything can be fixed
We may think that something irreparable has happened. This is most likely not the case. When the pain subsides and the mind connects to the emotions, you will see what to tweak and where to adjust so that everything becomes good again. As long as life goes on, there is work to do.
5. Knowing all the answers is optional
Why is everything arranged this way and why? Where is the truth and how should you live? Is God African American or Woman? It's great to speculate about this in moderation, but not to elevate to a cult. Some questions may simply not be answered, and this should not interfere with enjoying life.
6. It could not have been better
Analyzing the past for the sake of conclusions that apply to the present is one thing. Another is to waste time on possible, but unrealized scenarios. It’s even worse to think: “If I did it differently, life would definitely be better”. No one can know for sure. If so, drop unproductive thoughts and return to the present.
7. Action is the antidote to fear
Uncertainty about a pleasant result for us is paralyzing. But think, what is the worst thing that can happen if you overcome yourself? Perhaps just a few disapproving looks. And this is not at all the reason to then scold yourself for a missed opportunity.
8. Loneliness is not a bastard
Believe less pop songs. Being alone with yourself and enjoying it is an important skill that makes you freer. People, work, money can go away, and you can be with yourself until the very end.
9. Life is pain, but responsibility is on you
The cause of the problem may not be your behavior, but the actions of other people or a coincidence. But it's up to you to figure it out. Demanding even those closest to you to do as you want is ineffective, but changing your reactions, thinking and environment is quite.
10. Be patient
Sometimes luck, but usually love, friendship, self-realization and other important things do not reach us at lightning speed. Be patient, because you will have to pant.
11. Life is very fragile
Man is an amazingly hardy creature, but also incredibly fragile. Realizing this paradox teaches us to appreciate what we have right now and to be grateful.
12. Work doesn't mean boredom
We work most of our lives, and many of us perceive it as torture or sitting in our pants until the end of the day. But what if you are more attentive to yourself and start realizing your potential and talent? A reason to think.
13. You need to be able to stop
Life rushes on autopilot: we wake up, eat, work, love, and rest mechanically. And if we knew how to stop in time and be curious about the little things, we would get much more from life. Give every moment a chance to become complete and special.
14. Happiness is not outside
It is a mistake to look for happiness in the outside, even though a lot of cool things come from outside. Only you can be a stronghold of strong, stable, self-sufficient well-being. Work on that first, not buying a new car.
15. People are generally good
People are driven by a huge number of motives, which they themselves are not always aware of. But the main thing is to avoid suffering and be happy, and not harm and do nasty things. Bad character can hide a difficult childhood and sorrow. Be more discerning.
16. There is no unnecessary experience
I wasted so many years, this shouldn't have happened! Sound familiar? Now think about the fact that a pleasant experience gives you joy, and an unpleasant one gives you a strong character, will, the experience of overcoming, endurance, courage. Failures are just as important as victories.
17. Loving yourself is not selfishness
You are at home - until the very end (point number 8), and it is hard to be with the unloved. Loving yourself does not mean indulging in everything. It is self-knowledge and acceptance that does not cancel the desire to become better. Treating yourself as a good friend is much more effective than blaming and hating. Don't hurt yourself!
18. It would be nice to have a plan B
Living only on emotional impulses is as extreme as constantly rationalizing. Look for balance, but still have a backup plan - save time and are less likely to screw up.
19. The world is not hostile
Of course, the world is imperfect and sometimes goes down the drain. But in general, we create the mood ourselves. And besides, we are made of the same atoms as rock, scissors and paper. We are so united with our Universe that it takes our breath away. Think about this when you want to distinguish yourself as the ideal part of this terrible existence.
20. There is very little time
At the age of 15 it seems that the whole life is ahead, at 30 - what else will be done, and by the age of 60 it comes to life that life is obscenely short. Tragic fact. But the sooner you understand, the more you will have time.
Life will give you many more tasks and reasons to think. Do not dismiss it - it will come in handy!
