Gmail for Android has long been the benchmark email client: user-friendly, functional, and pretty pretty. One of its few shortcomings was working exclusively with Google accounts. With the new update, the email client has become even more beautiful, and now you can even link Outlook or Yandex. Mail.

The app has received an updated Material Design and looks in the style of all the latest Google products. All elements still look minimalist, the same round button is located in the lower right corner, and the navigation is familiar and convenient. The feed of your emails has also been updated. Now it resembles the beloved one in the recent Inbox. If, for example, images are attached in a letter, they will immediately be displayed in it.

The second major innovation is support for third-party mailboxes. From now on, you can link Outlook, Yahoo and any IMAP or Exchange email account. This is a big step forward, but the obvious drawback was the inability to view letters from all mailboxes at the same time. Both incoming and unread. Nevertheless, the transition between them is conveniently implemented. To do this, you just need to tap on your account icon in the menu on the left.

The updated Gmail has yet to hit Google Play, but the APK file can be downloaded now. It should be noted that for Exchange to work properly, you will also need to install a second file. There is no official statement regarding supported platforms yet, but we can already say for sure that the application works on Android version 4.0 and higher.
