7 reasons to work in Minsk

For most Muscovites or Petersburgers, the thought of moving to Minsk evokes a condescending smile and a desire to immediately tell any joke on the Belarusian theme. About the president or potatoes - according to your mood. Meanwhile, the IT community is looking towards this market with great interest. A couple of large gaming companies, a software corporation have already successfully settled here, one after another major conferences are being held. Everything indicates that in the coming years Minsk may become one of the most important technological centers in Europe.

We talked with representatives of the industry who took the risk of leaving the fashionable Moscow lofts and went to Belarus to participate in IT projects of the world size from there. It turned out that life and work in Minsk have many bonuses.

Purity

It really catches the eye right away, even in sleeping areas everything is neat. It's not just about the garbage, but rather the overall grooming. There are no sidewalk parking, so there is no dirt during rains: graceful flower beds and neatly trimmed lawns are everywhere. In summer, you can have picnics on the grass even in the city center, and to walk in nature you don't need to go anywhere - there are many parks within walking distance from the main streets.

There are surprisingly few advertisements (and a significant part of what we have is social), the pillars, doors and stops are not covered with advertisements, the entrances are always clean.

Security

You feel calm here. Even returning home late at night, you do not feel fear that someone might attack. There are absolutely no such unpredictably aggressive people typical for Moscow, and what is called “gopota” here are rather quiet drunks, not bandits.

Transport

Ground transportation is well developed, runs smoothly on schedule, and trips can be planned with an accuracy of the minute. There is no Moscow problem of existence within the framework of one microdistrict: there are practically no traffic jams, so any institution and any event in the city can be reached without problems and within a reasonable time.

Order

Although smooth roads allow you not to think about open hatches and holes, in Minsk everyone observes the traffic rules and drives at the prescribed speed. Pedestrians are not run over at zebras and bus stops, and the police do not take bribes.

People

The residents are friendly and very open-minded. There are no conflicts on the streets. Passers-by are in no hurry, they are always ready to help navigate the city, and they do it willingly and with a smile. Good nature is contagious - Moscow social phobia can be cured in just a couple of days.

Entertainment

Since the problem of huge distances and transport is not here, the whole city is at your disposal: clubs, cafes, theaters, cinemas and places for outdoor activities are easily accessible. You can finally afford to have a hobby and spend time with it after work, and not just on weekends. At the same time, the entire infrastructure is at the level and in a large assortment: from economy class to VIP. The same situation with stores: grocery chains are well developed, there is no feeling of a scoop. True, there are fewer clothing brands, which easily compensates …

… proximity to Europe

It's a common thing here - to spend a weekend abroad or go there for shopping. Lithuania, Germany or the Czech Republic are as available as in Russia, for example, a trip from Moscow to St. Petersburg. Even people who are not used to traveling, everything here is conducive to trying it.

In general, it's enough just to come (for example, for an interview) and look around. After a couple of days in Minsk and a few walks around the city, the decision to stay comes naturally.
