Take a regular pencil with a graphite rod and rub the teeth of the zipper with it. This should help. If not, you need to increase the glide, such as rubbing the teeth with soap, lip balm, or detergent that reduces friction.

Using a cotton swab, apply the lubricant to the zipper and teeth. Then pull the fastener down, repeat the lubrication procedure again. Continue until the clasp is completely open.

The teeth do not close or diverge

This is one of the most common and annoying problems. Try repeating the trick with a pencil and soap first, maybe this will improve the glide and allow the prongs to close properly.

If this does not help, then something is preventing the slider from working normally. See if a thread or fabric is stuck in the lock, carefully examine all the teeth, maybe one of them is bent. In this case, straighten it with pliers, and the zipper will close normally.

If nothing got into the clasp, and all the teeth are straight, perhaps the point is in the slider itself. Over time, the sliders loosen and no longer hold the teeth together. Take your pliers and squeeze the slider so that it grips the teeth again.

If you have some damage to the zipper at the beginning, you can simply sew it over the damaged area if you can open the zipper enough.

The clasp is not fixed

When the zipper is not fixed to the jeans, you can get into a very awkward situation. If you need to go out urgently, and there is nothing else to wear, you can do this: thread the key ring into the slider, put it on the button, and then fasten the loop. You can use an elastic band for the same.

If the zipper periodically disperses, and it does not help to press the slider, you need to replace it. First, use a pair of pliers to remove the old slider and the metal zip guards. Then slide a new slider over the zipper and use a pair of pliers to secure the stoppers.
