Users in North America were already able to send videos in private messages, and today the update is rolling out around the world. Chats (dialogs or groups) will appear in the YouTube mobile application, with the ability to share videos in them and exchange regular messages.

The function is available from the Share button under the video and allows you to select recipients from your device's contact list. In this case, a link with an invitation by SMS will be sent to the selected contacts. Unfortunately, YouTube does not identify who is already using the app, and an invitation will be sent anyway. YouTube also suggests contacts based on your Google and YouTube activity. In this case, SMS will not be used.

The conversation should start with sending a video, and then you can send text messages, emoji, and also put certain reactions (likes) to the videos. The messenger has a dedicated button to send more videos. By clicking on it, you will see recently watched videos and access the YouTube search.

There is no chat function in the web version of the service yet.
