In the case of Mi Comfort, the company changed its principles: these are impressive headphones with a microphone without any hint of compactness. There is no folding mechanism, so the box could hold a couple of tablets.

The body of the headset is made of white matte plastic with a pleasant rubbery texture. In addition to the white version, you can find orange and light green.

Each earphone has translucent inserts, one of which is a mechanical headset control button. It is pressed entirely, with a pleasant click and little effort. One press takes a call or starts / pauses music, two pressings start the next track, three - the previous one. Long press will drop the call.

The construction (excluding the ear pads) appears to be solid, but it is not. The inner part of the headband is made of a grayish leather substitute, under which a metal arc and foam rubber without memory effect are hidden. Form is restored instantly.

For a better fit, the cups are asymmetrical, both outside and inside. It is interesting to solve their rotation around the vertical axis: instead of complex mounts or hinges, the speaker, together with the ear cushion, is mounted on a soft silicone pad with the ability to bend in any direction.

The loudspeaker is insulated from the ear with a foam mesh fabric glued directly to the outer grille. The sound is not muffled, but the earphone remains reliably protected from dirt and mechanical stress.

The ear pads are soft, large. Inside - finely porous foam rubber, outside - leatherette of the same color as the inner part of the bow. Importantly, the ear pads can be removed and replaced. The size is standard, almost the first ones will do.

Connection to the sound source is performed using a non-detachable dense rubber-braided cable. When exposed to low temperatures, it slightly loses its flexibility.

On the cable there is a microphone made of molded plastic. The 4-pin mini-jack is made in the same way.

Wearing comfort and features

Despite its size, the headset is quite suitable for teenagers with a small head. At the same time, due to the rather soft and flexible bow, even titanium will be able to use the headphones: the distance between the cups changes by one and a half times! The arms increase in length by 3-4 centimeters, which should be enough for most buyers.

The flexibility of the shackle will not allow you to accidentally break Mi Comfort in your bag. And in conjunction with the soft mount of the emitters and ear cushions, it provides a comfortable fit for any head. The headset does not press at all, and a surprisingly soft filling of all parts in contact with the skin plays a significant role in this.

The ear cushions completely cover your ears. Although they are made of synthetic material, the head does not sweat, and there is no discomfort even with prolonged wear.

Perhaps Xiaomi Mi Comfort can be called the most comfortable headphones not only by the company itself: in the price range of up to 4 thousand rubles, it is very difficult to find a competitor.

The placement of the button on the ear cup is much more convenient than on the remote control: you won't miss. The mechanics of the button are perfect, single, double and triple presses for control work without failures.

Sound

Xiaomi Mi Comfort belongs to the mid-budget segment of portable acoustics, and this must be taken into account when evaluating the sound. Although there are a couple of pleasant surprises: the speakers have a huge volume reserve, allowing you to connect headphones even to the line input of sufficiently powerful amplifiers. An accidental error in testing nearly cost me my hearing. Interestingly, even at maximum volume (at which the device can be used as desktop speakers), wheezing is absent.

When connected to weak sound sources such as smartphones and simple portable audio players, Mi Comfort does not deafen. At an acceptable volume, the headset makes it possible to hear the entire spectrum of reproducible frequencies within the limits of human hearing. The manufacturer says about this already on the box, indicating the presence of a Hi-Res certificate. This logo requires the device to be able to reproduce sound at a frequency between 20 Hz and 40 kHz. Test listening once again confirms Xiaomi's honesty with the buyer.

The sound is voluminous, the stage is wide, and high-quality recordings make it possible to feel yourself in the same room with a musical group.

But volume isn't everything. Mi Comfort has a flat frequency response. This means that all frequencies sound equally loud. Lovers of low frequencies will have to raise the level using the equalizer, and it should be borne in mind that this headset does not cope very well with the lower range and is strongly discouraged for bassheads. Bass guitar (mid bass, sub bass) sounds better. Guitars and vocals (mid-range) sound especially beneficial with the disabled equalizer in Xiaomi Mi Comfort.

The high frequencies are not overwhelmed, they sound loud enough and intelligible. You can't call them ideal, but it's still very worthy. Sibilants (extraneous sounds when playing high frequencies) are absent.

Advantageously in Xiaomi Mi Comfort classical rock, rock and roll, jazz compositions and pop music sounds. With a little EQ tweak, a variety of calm electronic styles, classical metal and classical music can be added to the list.

Working as a headset

When talking, you don't need to bring the microphone close to your mouth, the volume is sufficient even in a normal position. Excessive noise is cut off by the built-in noise reduction mechanism. Thanks to him, the headset can be used even on public transport. The sound remains satisfactory, the voice is recognizable, and the noise fades into the background.

In other scenarios of using the interlocutor, you can hear it perfectly, complaints about the quality of your voice are also unlikely to come.

Outcomes

Xiaomi Mi Comfort is the answer to the criticism of Mi Headphones, which combined high cost (about $ 100) and poor soundproofing.

The novelty costs only $ 40, and the sound insulation is excellent. Considering the sound quality, Mi Comfort could have been more expensive. The amazing convenience has already been mentioned above. True, the expensive version comes with a cover and adapters, while the Mi Comfort comes with only a fabric cover.

Pros:

  • quality materials;
  • a large selection of colors;
  • balanced sound;
  • excellent fit;
  • comfortable design.

Minuses:

  • non-removable cable;
  • poor equipment;
  • does not transmit low frequencies very well.

It should be said that a comfortable fit is often more important than a "fat" sound. Not every headphone will allow you to spend 10 hours in them, as I was able to do during testing Xiaomi Mi Comfort.

The headset can be recommended as a budget on-ear headphone for Dolby Atmos-enabled devices. In addition, Xiaomi Mi Comfort is suitable as an alternative to popular models of headphones (both stationary and portable) in the price range of up to 5,000 rubles.
