Ready-made pancake mix is often used for other purposes, making pancakes, biscuits, muffins, cobblers, and even a pizza base from it. We decided to supplement this list with donuts. Probably the simplest donuts you've ever cooked.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ¼ cup (300 ml) water
  • 3 ¼ cups pancake mix
  • vegetable oil for frying.

There are only two ingredients: the prepared pancake mixture itself and water. Our pancake mix already included milk powder and egg powder. If these ingredients are not in your mixture, then dilute everything not with water, but with milk, and add one additional egg.

Pour a glass of hot water over the dry pancake mixture and stir. Long kneading can make the dough thick and stringy, so don't overdo it.

As for shaping, you can fry round donuts by scooping up the sticky dough with an oiled ice cream spoon, or you can squeeze the dough out of a cooking bag in the manner of Spanish churros.

Place portions of the dough in the heated oil (it is easy to cut them together with ordinary scissors) and fry until golden brown. Put the finished donuts on a wire rack or napkins.
