Divide your desired goal into small tasks and remember to give yourself a break.
This question was submitted by our reader. You, too, ask your question to Lifehacker - if it is interesting, we will definitely answer.
How not to give up your dream? I have a dream - to fly to Japan for a long period. And, on the one hand, this thought is always with me, it regulates what needs to be done / important to do, how much time I spend on learning the language, etc. BUT, when you realize how much work you really have to do, how much time you have to spend earning / saving money for a flight, plus relatives often say: “Do you need it? It's so far away! Too expensive!". They are proud that I strive for "such heights", I study, I try, but they do not support me completely. Yes, I understand: until you support yourself, no one will understand, but, of course, I would like there to be someone else who “would give strength” to continue.

In fact, it is not so much external support that is important here as internal motivation. The words of other people upset, because their doubt responds in you and you yourself ask yourself the same questions: do I need it?
In such cases, I usually recommend drawing up a plaque with the pros and cons of fulfilling the dream.
It is also important to write down all the steps and break the goal into small tasks and intermediate goals, since it is very important for a person to see tangible results. Otherwise, the thought “everything I do has no sense” will make you stop.
The main thing is not to demand too much of yourself. If you completely ignore the "here and now", then you can simply burn out without achieving the desired goal. Therefore, take breaks, look for joyful moments, in addition to constantly completing the tasks set on the way to the goal. Replenish emotional resources with pleasant little things and favorite things, and do not forget to just relax.
A couple of weeks off will push back the achievement of your goal by a maximum of a couple of weeks, and the lack of a break can be so exhausting that you simply stop or push back the realization of your dream much further. When thinking about the time to achieve a goal, always give yourself a head start on unforeseen circumstances: it is impossible to control everything, and not everything depends on you. In addition, the more difficult the goal, the more time it takes to reach it.
For more details on how to achieve long-term goals, I talked about the Twitter thread with illustrations.
Today I would like to talk about what often becomes the reason for the rejection of long-term goals, self-doubt and self-confidence
For example: I want to move abroad, but it is very difficult, long and I will not succeed
