If it seems to you that due to the events of recent weeks a lull has reigned in the labor market, this is not entirely true. Together with MTS, we figured out how the recruiting process has changed (spoiler: not so much), and compiled a detailed guide to finding a job using modern technology.

1. Where to look for vacancies

This seems to be the easiest stage, the pandemic did not particularly affect it. Although the majority of Russians prefer to look for work through their acquaintances, it is high time to start more actively using the opportunities of the online format, since all the technologies necessary for this have been introduced and tested for several years.

Here's where to go for fresh deals:

  • Career websites of companies. Usually, such resources publish not only current vacancies, but also company news - at the same time, you can feel the corporate spirit and figure out whether working conditions suit you or not.
  • Job search sites. For example, good old HeadHunter. When searching, do not limit yourself only to your region: suddenly a profitable offer with the possibility of remote work will turn up.
  • Groups with vacancies in social networks. You can find them by request "Work * your city *". As a rule, there are a lot of proposals for every taste, only it is better to choose fresh messages. Vacancies in the depth of the feed may already lose relevance, and you will only waste your time on them.
  • Professional communities. Not a bad way if you want to find a job in a specific industry - for example, media or IT-field. There are such groups on Facebook and VKontakte, and don't forget about chats and channels with vacancies on Telegram.

Large players do not curtail their search for new personnel, even during a crisis. So, to get a job at MTS, you don't even need to leave your home. All current vacancies of the company are collected for it - choose the appropriate industry and see what offers are in your city.

For more information on working conditions, visit. For students and graduates, there is a section with internships - you can try yourself in the IT or business direction. Choose the appropriate option and send your resume - this is a real chance to gain rewarding experience and build a cool career right after university.

2. What to do before your first interview

If your resume meets the requirements of the vacancy, wait for a letter from HR. He will conduct the first interview. There won't be anything particularly difficult there, it's just a filter that filters out frankly inappropriate candidates who have embellished the story of their experience.

Things to do before the interview:

  • Get to know the company better. It is important for Eichar to understand that the future employee is really interested in getting a position, and not just went to the fire. Respect other people's time and at least in general terms, find out what the company is doing, otherwise the interview is doomed to failure.
  • Think ahead of why you are looking for a job. It is not worth complaining that colleagues or the boss have been pissed off by constant nagging. You should not speak unflatteringly about your previous place of work - you may be asked for recommendations, and during a conversation with a former manager, find out who was after whom.
  • Prepare a justification why you should be hired. Forget common phrases and stock up on relevant examples from your work experience. Realistic achievements will show your value as a specialist.
  • Make a list of questions to ask during your interview. For example, you can clarify what bonuses, like VHI and paid English courses, what kind of salary is it white or in an envelope.

3. How to prepare for an interview with a future leader

So, you've finished your first interview and convinced HR that you can't do without such a helpful employee of the company. Moving to a new level: now you need to talk to the boss, under whose supervision you will work. Most likely, the conversation will take place via video link, because no one has yet canceled self-isolation. It's for the best - it's still more comfortable at home than in an unfamiliar office.

To make the interview go smoothly, follow these simple instructions:

  • Prepare a short story about yourself. Just for a couple of minutes: who you are, who you studied for and where you worked - a kind of mini-resume. If you're worried, practice this speech in front of a mirror.
  • Stock up on answers to frequently asked questions. Why do you want to work in this particular company, what motivates you, and what infuriates you in your work. It is not a fact that the manager will ask you about this, but it is better to insure yourself in advance.
  • Remember real-life cases in which you showed yourself excellently. If difficult situations happened in your work, and you handled them brilliantly, reject modesty and talk about them. There are no unnecessary bonuses at an interview.
  • Create a list of questions for your manager. Unlike the HR questions, this is not about the company as a whole, but about your position. For example, how many people will work with you in a team, how the load is distributed, what exactly you have to do and how the work result will be assessed.
  • Before calling, check how the microphone and headphones work. To avoid echoes, mute your microphone when the other person is speaking. And ask your family not to disturb you for at least half an hour.
  • Get yourself in order. Obvious advice, but worth recalling. Clean up the room, iron your shirt and put on your trousers, or you never know.

Some employers ask candidates to record a short video of themselves. The same rules apply here as with interviews: test the microphone, rehearse your skills, and don't forget about the main achievements.

4. How to draw up documents and get used to a new place

If you receive a job offer - congratulations, you are almost there! It remains only to secure the deal with documents. Check with your HR manager if you need to go to the HR department to transfer documents, or if everything can be done remotely. Find out how best to send your employee and a signed copy of the employment contract to the company. Perhaps it will be possible to do this with the help of an electronic document management system, and if not, then mail will help out.

Check with your line manager what services and access rights you need to get started. If your home computer does not work, immediately say: it is possible that the company will meet halfway and provide a working laptop.

The first weeks after employment are the ideal time to establish yourself well. Get involved in the life of the company, stay in sight and report back on completed tasks and problems in a timely manner. Feel free to ask if you don't understand something, follow the basic rules of courtesy and make friends with colleagues on social networks - at the same time you will find out who you will deal with in the office when self-isolation is over.

So that new employees do not feel left to fend for themselves and quickly join the process, a well-functioning corporate training system is useful. MTS also has a virtual academy where you can study remotely. The manager introduces new employees to the team, and then everything continues in the best collective traditions - with Skype calls, video conferences and friendly chat rooms.

MTS Corporate University has existed for 25 years and has developed its own approach to training. Only practicing experts teach here, with a convenient schedule it will be easy to receive new information without interrupting work, and all acquired knowledge can be immediately applied in practice.
