In March, we talked about an alternative Mac client for Evernote. The app has left beta testing and is now available for purchase from the Mac App Store. And we once again told why Alternote is simply gorgeous.

We wrote about a few months ago. Then the application was in beta testing. From the moment I discovered it until today, Alternote has been and remains my primary Evernote app. Even in the beta version, Alternote is several orders of magnitude better than the native Mac client. The app is now officially available on the Mac App Store. A lot has changed since the last review. We decided to remind you why this unofficial client is so good.

First of all, the application looks damn beautiful. This is exactly what you expect from a commentator: a simple interface, an emphasis on text and a lack of bright colors. As we said before, the work area is divided into three parts: the list of notebooks, the current notebook, and the text area. The final version has a new button that hides all elements except the sheet with the text.

The animations have also been updated: there are more of them. This can be turned off in the settings, but you hardly want to do this: they are executed at the highest level. Everything is very smooth, fast and not over-the-top like in the latest versions of iOS. On the sync tab, you can now mark which notebooks need to be synced. They asked about this in the comments on Lifehacker - the developers listened.

The night mode has not gone anywhere. And, as it seems to me, this is the best implementation of it from everything that I have seen. The text is readable, and the colors are not "pluck-out-dark", but such that you do not strain when working at night. No more, no less.

The WYSIWYG editor is invoked as a string with elements when you select a piece of text. It can be used to format text, create a list, checkbox, headers and insert a link.

This is what an ideal note-taking should look like. If you own a Mac and use Evernote, then buying this app is hardly a negotiable option. The team plans to make a similar application for iOS, the Windows version of the application is still in question.
