Messenger Day is an add-on to Facebook Messenger where you can take photos and videos, then add captions, stickers, cartoon graphics and other creative layers. The publication will appear in a special Day menu - make it private or open it for everyone. The post in the "diary" will stay for 24 hours, after which it will be automatically deleted.
Facebook did not invent anything new: last year a similar feature first appeared in Snapchat (Snapchat Stories), then it was quickly borrowed by Instagram (Instagram Stories), then WhatsApp (WhatsApp Status). There is no difference in the way the picture is created, but the message is different. Posting to Snapchat Stories reveals what you've already done. A post on Messenger Day informs you about your plans for the day and gathers friends around you, for example, those who are nearby and ready to join your plans.
Thus, Messenger tries to take users away from the online, motivating to allocate time for live communication. And in the meantime he allocates space between the "diaries" for advertising.;) For you - a sticker with a rocket and the signature "Who is with me in the movie on Wolverine?" And for Facebook - another monetization channel.
Messenger Day does not completely duplicate stories in other social networks. For example, there is no counter of likes and reactions under posts, posts from the "diary" cannot be published in the Facebook news feed or saved, Boomerang and-g.webp
Recall that Facebook already has its own version of stories - Facebook Stories (available on iOS and Android). The new Messenger Day runs on the same platforms. The software update will take place regardless of the region in the next few weeks.
