On July 4, Yandex's search results included public Google Docs documents. And in Google they have been there for a long time and have not yet been deleted.
Information has gained popularity on the Internet that public Google Docs documents have become publicly available thanks to the indexing of the Yandex search engine. A few hours after the publication of this data on the network, the Russian company closed Yandex, assured that the search does not imply the issuance of Google Docs files from the closed access, the indexing of documents, although this does not violate any rules. However, later it became known that Google also indexes public documents.
Thus, the data of unwary users turned out to be in the public domain. Right now, you can search for someone else's or your own documents using this query:
How to close access to your documents
-
Open the required document.
-
Find the "ACCESS SETTINGS" button in the upper right corner of the screen.
-
Enable link access.
- In the menu "They can browse …" select the item "More" and there select either "ON (for everyone who has a link)" or "OFF (for selected users)"
More details about all access settings can be found in the official Google Help.
