An instruction for those who are taking too much time and energy from Facebook.
Addiction to likes, aimless scrolling of news feeds, aggressive commentators - you can count many more negative aspects associated with social services. Facebook goes even further: a confusing interface and an abundance of ads often do not help, but only interfere with communication with loved ones.
For those who nevertheless decided to break up with Facebook, the service offers two options: deactivation and deletion of the account.
How to deactivate your Facebook account
Deactivation only implies a temporary deactivation of the personal profile. If you admit that you can return to Facebook, then this option is best for you.
Your page will become invisible and cannot be found through search. But some information, such as messages sent, will still be available to other Facebook users. As soon as you log into your account again, its previous state will be fully restored.
To deactivate your profile, log in to it via Facebook or the mobile app and go to settings. If you are using an Android or iOS program, tap Account Settings → General → Account Management → Deactivate. If you are logged in through the website, click "Account Management" → "Deactivate Account".
Enter the confirmation password and follow the further prompts.
How to delete your Facebook account
Deleting your account erases all your personal data from the social network irrevocably. The procedure starts within a few days (Facebook does not specify this period) after the request for deletion is sent. Within this time frame, the request can still be canceled. Complete erasure of data from backup systems takes up to three months.
Before deleting, you can copy all the information stored in your account to your computer. To do this, log in to Facebook through your browser, open the settings and click at the very bottom of the page "Download a copy of your data on Facebook".
To send a request for deletion, follow this link from any device and, if required, log in with the account you want to delete. Then follow the instructions of the service.
