About why the price of some gyro scooters starts from 6,000 rubles, while for other sellers they ask 5 times more, what to look for when buying and how to choose a high-quality model.

Before buying, you need to decide exactly where you plan to ride a gyro scooter: will you use it to get to a public transport stop, or ride in a park, or use it indoors. Assess the distance you plan to travel and the quality of the surface.

Without recharging, hoverboards can cover distances from 10 to 40 km. Most models will cover 20-25 km in 1.5-2 hours. Unevenness or the presence of a slope in the road will reduce these rates.

Unfortunately, most models are not designed for wet weather.

When buying a gyro scooter, you should not chase the cheapest model, since in many respects the price determines which components are used in the device: original or of dubious quality.

Both a small handicraft factory and a large factory can produce gyro scooters. To distinguish exactly the factory assembly, you have to look closely at the details.

The brand doesn't matter

If, when choosing a bicycle, roller or scooter, we can focus on the manufacturer and specific brands, with regard to gyro scooters, the model name does not matter.

The names Smart Balance, Crossway, Cactus, iBalance and many others are not factory-specific.

Different models can be assembled at the same plant, or an order for the production of a particular brand can be scattered across different factories. Therefore, the prices and workmanship of even one particular model can vary greatly.

Availability of a certificate and warranty service

The responsible seller distributes hoverboards that have passed the test and have a certificate of conformity.

In addition to the check, you should be given a booklet from the service center, where you can turn in case of a breakdown.

Package

For a high-quality hoverboard, the manufacturer will not skimp on styrofoam. Cutouts in it will be made specifically for your model. The quality mark of the hoverboard itself is indirect, but at least indicates the presence at the plant of a separate line for the production of packaging.

Case appearance

Take a closer look at how the body is made and painted over. Colors and prints should be crisp and vibrant. Initially, there should be no plastic irregularities and potholes on the surface.

The thicker the plastic, the stronger your hoverboard will be. Models with a coating thickness of 3-4 mm will crack quickly when you learn to ride. Take hoverboards made of thicker plastic.

The arches above the wheels should not protrude much to the sides, otherwise after a couple of collisions with an obstacle, you risk splitting them.

Wheels

More affordable models of gyro scooters with small 6-inch wheels will only be able to drive on a perfectly flat road or indoors. Often, such models have serious weight restrictions - up to 55 kg - and are suitable only for children or light girls.

Models with 8-inch wheels will cope with uneven asphalt or tiles, but will get stuck in the grass. SUVs among gyro scooters are models with inflatable wheels with a diameter of 10 inches, which will travel on any surface and will not vibrate unpleasantly.

The disks do not affect the motor characteristics in any way, it is rather a matter of design. But the tires themselves should not have an unpleasant, unweathered odor. The wheels should rotate freely, without extraneous shuffling noises.

Charger

Poor charging can lead to the fact that one day your hoverboard simply stops charging. And this is the best case. At worst, situations are known when hoverboards, put on recharge, caught fire in their owners' apartment.

A proper charger will look like a laptop charger: it shouldn't have any additional fans. The presence of a cooler indicates that the charger will make noise and overheat during use, which is unsafe. As soon as the fan fails, it will become impossible to use such a device.

The manufacturer of a high-quality hoverboard will not be stingy with a long enough charging cable.

The charger must have a power output of 2 A at 42 V.

Internal organization

You are unlikely to be allowed to disassemble a gyro scooter in a store, although a responsible seller who knows his product well and is confident in its quality will not refuse to show you the filling. In addition, during operation, you may be faced with the need to replace the case or something inside, for example, the same battery.

A good hoverboard will always consist of three boards: a motherboard and two controllers. The boards should have the Taotao manufacturer's logo, as in the picture below.

The twists of the wires must be neat.

Look at the battery. Labels must be clear and free from grammatical errors. The presence of the manufacturer's logo is a good sign. Battery capacity - 4.4 Ah. You can learn more about hoverboard batteries from this review.

The main thing when buying a gyro scooter is the safety of its further use, so be careful and do not chase after the cheapest model.
