Before any trip, we ask ourselves the following questions: “What to take with you?”, “What is better to leave at home?”, “Where to put everything?”. Today we will try to give answers to them in this article.

9 rules to keep in mind when packing things in a suitcase
9 rules to keep in mind when packing things in a suitcase

1. Take twice as few things as planned and twice as much money

Every time I travel, I bring four pants, five T-shirts, two shirts, seven pairs of socks, and so on. The amount, of course, depends on the length of the trip. And every time half of the things remain intact in the suitcase. And money will never be superfluous. But the fact that you took them with you does not mean that you have to spend them all.

2. Try to fit all your belongings in your carry-on baggage

Large airports, many flights, transfers, connections, cancellations. All this leads to the fact that airlines are losing luggage. If you are flying by plane, try to fit all the things you need in your carry-on baggage. And the things you can do without … No, not in your regular luggage, just leave it at home. After all, you can do without them.

3. Ask the staff to put a Fragile sticker on your luggage

Airport movers are just terrible at handling suitcases. Therefore, if you want your things to arrive safe and sound, then inform the check-in counter that you are transporting fragile things. If you are lucky, your luggage will be treated much more carefully. Plus it will allow you to quickly figure out your suitcase on the luggage tape.

4. Combine and mix

Take three shirts and three pants. So you got nine different outfits, while saving a lot of space in your suitcase.

5. Trust in technology

Yes, paper books are cool. The smell of typography and fresh ink makes for a special reading experience. Vinyl sounds much better than your player or phone. But all this, firstly, takes up a lot of space in the luggage, and secondly, it weighs a lot. Kindle and iPod take up minimal space in your carry-on baggage.

6. Leave the hair dryer at home

Seriously, why carry it around with you? I understand that if you drive by car and the extra 0, 5-1 kilograms will not play a big role for you. But if you get by bus or plane, then you should give up the hair dryer. Use the hotel room and the men will use the towel.

7. Don't take jeans

Jeans are undoubtedly a cool thing. I love jeans and wear them almost every day. But when traveling, you walk more than usual, you may not have a washing machine and time to dry. And jeans get dirty very quickly, dry for a long time and weigh a lot. Cotton or sweatpants are much more practical on the road.

8. If important and expensive things do not fit into a backpack, leave them at home

They steal everywhere. And in Africa, and in New York, and anywhere in the world. Therefore, if you do not want to lose something precious to you, leave it at home. You will have to carry everything valuable with you in your backpack.

9. Don't be afraid to forget something

Soap, shampoo, socks and T-shirts are sold in every city in every country. Therefore, if you forgot something, there is nothing to worry about: you can buy it. The main thing is not to forget money and documents.

Good luck with your travels and more enjoyable adventures!
