Usually, all the advice revolves around how to sit less and move more. However, it is equally important how and on what we sit.

One of the main problems arising from prolonged sitting at the computer is not physical inactivity at all, but a stooped posture.

Why are we slouching

It turns out that any chair with a horizontal seat prevents the body from assuming a physiological position. Due to the length of the thigh lying on the horizontal surface of the chair, a moment of rotation occurs in the pelvis. The pelvis tends to lean back, the lower back is rounded, and we slouch. This is natural, and it is not we who are to blame, but our chairs.

As a result of the rounding of the lower back, the load on the intervertebral discs increases by 10–11 times. Osteochondrosis, protrusion and hernia develop.

Physiological sitting

In the 70s in Europe, doctors wondered why children swing in chairs. It turned out that when the seat is tilted, their pelvis and spine take a natural position. Then the development of reclining chairs began. To prevent a person from rolling off them, the design was supplemented with a knee support and was named kneeling chairs. Such chairs are also called orthopedic: they are indispensable for those people who have already experienced severe back pain from sedentary work.

The second type of physiological chair is the saddle chair, which simulates riding on a horse. On such a chair, the posture is close to the standing position. However, standing up all day is not as easy as working in a saddle chair.

The fundamental difference between any physiological chair is that it provides an obtuse angle between the body and the hips.

The loin assumes an anatomically correct position while maintaining the curves. As a result, not only she feels comfortable, but also all the higher parts of the spine, the chest and shoulders are straightened.

Of course, no stool is guaranteed to be healthy. But in order to achieve a result, it is very important not only to add usefulness to your life, for example, physical activity, but also to eliminate the main harmful factors. For example, to replace ordinary chairs, which daily steal the resources of our body imperceptibly.
