I stopped following book reading apps long ago as Bookmate replaced them. Of course, there are complaints about it, but as a platform for reading books, Bookmate seems to me the best solution. But if you are not looking for a social network, but a separate book application, then Read may be it.

First of all, Read highlights the fact that the app is free. There are no additional functions that are opened for money, and there are no ads here either. The application only works with the ePub format, but it’s hard to write it down as a disadvantage - you can find almost any book in this format.

In reading mode, you can change the font size, indents and color scheme. There are three of them, and they are standard: light, dark and sepia. If page flipping doesn't suit you, you can change it to vertical scrolling.

When you select any phrase, a Highlight button appears, which allows you to create a quote. Quotes are saved in a separate menu, where they are presented in the form of a ribbon. If you connect Evernote to Read, you can save quotes there.

You can also connect Dropbox to the application, then all books from the cloud will be available for reading. And if you create an account in Read, then the limitation on the number of books in the library (two) will be removed and the synchronization of the reading position between devices will be enabled.

Despite the fact that the application is free, I did not find any minuses in it. On iPhone 5, Read works fine and shows Russian-language books without any problems. By the way, books can be downloaded not only from Dropbox, but also from the Internet - when downloading an ePub-book, Read will offer to open it.
