How many times have you looked at yourself in the mirror with an unpleasant feeling, wanted to change something in yourself, said to yourself “I'll start on Monday,” but everything ended with this thought? Perhaps this material will help you understand yourself and make your dreams come true.

To get the most out of your efforts, you need to set specific, short-term goals

It doesn't matter if you want to get rid of painful obesity in order to avoid the health consequences in the future (if they have not already appeared), or to rock a chic abs, be honest with yourself - only what motivates you most will help you. And do not pay attention to those who consider your goal strange and incomprehensible to him, this is primarily your goal.

Goal setting is a powerful tool that can be used in almost every aspect of our lives

Self-improvement, career growth, better education, athletic performance, communication, control of finances and good looks - the list goes on and on. Those who haven't used goal setting for leadership and motivation blame the technique as useless. But there are many people who constantly set goals and go towards them, thereby revealing their true potential.

All achievements start with goals

You must know where you want to come before you have a chance to achieve this goal. Goal setting helps us block out distractions in life by focusing our attention on specific tasks. It helps us prioritize our lives. This gives us the opportunity to tap into our powers and abilities and use them to achieve maximum effect.

Goals give us motives to carry out our daily activities

Without a goal, we simply live the moments of our life, perform any actions, without having a clearly marked destination. Time passes, and we remain all in the same place, having achieved nothing, without changing anything in our life. An active pursuit of our goals propels us forward and upward to new heights.

Serious approach

Most people, wanting to change something in their body, refer to it more as a hobby than as a real sports activity. This is their mistake.

Athletes and coaches know and understand the power of goal setting. In the offseason or early in the season, players and teams set specific goals for the coming year. They then develop a specific action plan to achieve these goals. They start out with small steps, reaching the nearest goals that are right in front of them, and then begin to achieve exponentially larger and larger successes until the final goal is achieved.

Football is a great example. The ultimate goal is to win the Super Bowl, but it all starts with simple off-season training and workout routines. Next up are training camps and pre-season games. The goal is to win the first week and then every week after. As the season progresses, the stakes rise, and so does the effort spent on advancing towards the cherished goal.

Ambitious goals motivate athletes to work hard and train hard. This helps them to work despite all the routine that accompanies them throughout the playing season. This gives them a reason to make the sacrifices they need to be successful.

You must have a reason not to eat the chocolate chip cookie that looks seductively in your face, a reason to exercise even when you feel tired and unmotivated, or when work is crazy. The reason is to do a few more reps even when the muscles are already burning. The short term goal gives us this motivation. "I want a beautiful body."

Practical plan

  1. Set a goal so you can focus on a specific task
  2. Write it down. This is the first step in moving this goal from the world of meaningless words to the world of meaningful action.
  3. Place your goal where you will see it every day. It will remind you what you are after.
  4. Set specific deadlines so you don't put it off again and again tomorrow.
  5. Tell at least one person about your goals, so you will feel some responsibility for achieving your goal in front of him.
