Last year, Apple introduced an updated Notes for iOS and OS X that were so cool they were dubbed the Evernote killers right off the bat. However, the mass of notes in Evernote that had accumulated over the years kept many users from switching to them. Fortunately, this is no longer a problem anymore.

The days when Evernote was the standard for note-taking are long gone. The service has turned into a clumsy monster, annoying with its strict restrictions in the free version and confusion. You have to do something about this, and if you are using Apple devices, the easiest way is to transfer your entire archive to your native Notes.

What do we need

Migration from Evernote to Apple Notes is done by regular means, no shamanism. Here's what we need:

  • Mac with OS X 10.11.4 installed.
  • The official client of Evernote.
  • Account in Notes (your Apple ID).
  • iPhone or iPad with iOS 9.3 installed.

How it works

The plan is this: we export all the notes from Evernote, then import them into Apple Notes, sync with iCloud and they appear on all our devices, including the iPhone and iPad.

Exporting notes from Evernote

1. Download the official Evernote app from, if you haven't already installed it.

3. We are waiting for all records to be synchronized, guided by the indicator.

4. Now select all notes (⌘ + A) or only certain notebooks and press the menu "File" → "Export …".

It remains to check that the file "My Notes.enex" has appeared in the specified location, and Evernote can be closed. We don't need him anymore.
