We will tell you how to buy and sell according to your own rules.
- a platform where people decide for themselves on what terms to conclude deals. Here you can buy something that is not sold anywhere else, and find a buyer for things that, it would seem, are not needed by anyone.
We have collected stories of people who often use Avito. In this article, Lifehacker's videographer Oleg Imideev recalls how he sold the system unit in just an hour, and advises how to compose a selling ad.
I live in Ulyanovsk, am fond of photography, periodically buy and sell equipment on Avito. Now I have 21 sales and a lot of purchases.
Why i use Avito
I have been at Avito since 2016. Before that, I sold things on social networks and even through a newspaper with free ads. Nine years ago I tried to sell a bicycle through a newspaper, but somehow it didn't work out. With groups in social networks, it also did not grow together. Some strange audience is sitting there: a thing that costs 10 thousand, they wanted to buy from me for a thousand.
On Avito you can sell things that you would never think of that someone needs them.
For example, I was selling a smartphone killed in the trash with a dead battery, a broken microphone and a spoken speaker. Apart from the screen, there was nothing of value there.
I put it up for 5,500 rubles, but I didn't really count on anything: I thought that if they did, it would be at most for a thousand rubles for spare parts. The smartphone was bought in a week - an ardent admirer of the brand was found, who was very happy that the screen was in good condition.
I often sell a technique here that quickly becomes outdated. It is more profitable for me to sell a laptop while it is still somehow appreciated, and invest this money in buying a new one, than to keep it until they can only chop nuts.
The fastest deal happened when I put up a system unit with a processor, motherboard, and an ancient graphics card. He did not indicate the price, because he did not know approximately how much it all cost. I posted an ad, an hour passed - five people wrote to me, and within half an hour another buyer arrived and took it away.
What do I buy on Avito
I usually look for photographic equipment here. In general, I am a pragmatic approach to purchases. When I need something, I first look at how much it costs in the store, then I go to Avito and compare prices. If the difference is more than 5-6 thousand and I know that this is a technique, the state of which is not particularly affected by the number of previous owners, then I buy from my hands. Simply because it is more profitable.
If I have nothing to do in the evenings, I go to my favorite "Photo equipment" tab and see what's new.
Once I was sitting, refreshing the page and saw an advertisement for the sale of a lens for 9 thousand rubles - I caught it almost immediately after publication. I decided that I needed to take a closer look.
For such a price, one of two similar lenses could be given: a simpler one, which really costs 9 thousand, and a cool one - in stores they sell it for at least 21 thousand. From the specifications, it was not very clear which of these lenses was being offered.
The seller was somehow hesitant to answer the questions, so I decided to meet with him and see the goods live. I come and see that expensive lens, which I didn't really count on. Of course, he bought it, did not even become impudent and haggle. There are crazy thoughts to sell at a higher price, but for now I use it myself.
What I like about Avito is that there are a lot of people sitting here and there are some really interesting lots. When I was looking for a camera, I was already going to order it from Japan for 20 thousand rubles, delivery cost somewhere else one and a half thousand.
For the sake of interest, I decided to look at Avito and found the same model in St. Petersburg. The purchase with delivery to Ulyanovsk ended up costing 15,500 rubles.
How to write a good ad
Sometimes I help my friends sell their stuff. For some reason, the fact that they do not sell for a long time quickly leaves me. Probably, the fact is that I'm pretty spoiled in terms of ads and try to arrange them in such a way that I myself would like to buy this thing.
- Specify the exact characteristics of the product. Ads where the product is described in one line and without details are enraged. If you sell a set of things, write if you are ready to give them separately.
- Please tell us what condition the product is in. It is important that people understand what they can count on. Indicate whether you are the first owner of what is included, whether there are receipts and a guarantee.
- Focus on the average market price. In large cities, prices are usually low because there are more offers. In Ulyanovsk, I can put the price a little higher, because buyers from my city save on delivery.
- Decide in advance how much you can concede … I always put up a bargaining barrier for myself. For example, if the market price of a camera with a lens is about 70 thousand rubles, I give it for 73 thousand. Selling at this price - good, you have to give up - that's okay too.
- Add crisp photos. People need to see what they are buying. If the product can fit into the frame, show it from all sides.
