You don't need a lot of clothes to look different every day. Entrepreneur Irina Golovina-Ismagilova tells why only eight things are enough for you to make sets of clothes for a whole month, and what does the LEGO constructor have to do with it.

In the previous article, I told you how to analyze your wardrobe and understand what we have. There can be two options:

  • Enough things for all situations in life. Fine! You have a balanced wardrobe.
  • There are many things, but often there is still nothing to wear. Or there are still not enough things. Or maybe there are not many things, and not a few things, but you are unhappy and face a problem when you are going somewhere. And this is an imbalance.

In the latter case, you need to optimize and balance the contents of your closet. To do this, you can use a method that I call "Lego Wardrobe". In this constructor, parts from different sets fit together, you can assemble different shapes from them. It's the same story with the wardrobe. You don't need to have many things - you need them to make it possible to build different images.

While studying at the Moscow State Institute of Culture, specializing in imageology, I discovered a new mathematical principle: eight things give about 30 sets of clothes. Can't believe it? See how it works.

For example, let's take the simplest office options: blouses, turtleneck, jacket, skirt, trousers and jeans (the top should be larger than the bottom). And we will make sets of them, alternating top and bottom.

The math is simple:

3 bottoms × 4 tops = 12 sets

If you add a jacket to each of these sets, there will be 24 options. And if you take T-shirts instead of blouses for a free style, and instead of a jacket - a shirt that can be worn alone or together with T-shirts, then you will already get 27 sets.

Let's see how it looks in practice.

Let's take eight basic items.

At first glance, it turns out to be very boring, but if you correctly alternate the images, then there will be no problems. The picture below shows 20 different sets of eight items, and they do not repeat in 20 days.

So that the wardrobe with this approach is not boring, accessories are needed. This option for women is much more varied than the "Jobs style".

Eight things are just a base from which you can push off, working through your wardrobe. There may be more of them. It all depends on the lifestyle, desires and capabilities of the wallet. Even with a large wardrobe, a woman usually wears the most beloved, most comfortable things, and there are few of them. According to the Pareto principle - 20%, which is plus or minus the same 8-10 things that I am talking about.

You don't have to buy eight items for every area of your life. You'd better see what clothes are suitable for different situations. In my example, in jeans from your work wardrobe, you can go to the club in the evening, just replace the top.

And remember: the top is more often updated and bought, and not the bottom, if this is not a dress.

The Lego-wardrobe method is very effective, it gives an understanding of the mechanism of working with things. Try it today: shape and try on the outfits you have. Good luck and interesting images!
