Picture-in-Picture is ideal for watching videos in a floating window while doing basic work. Lifehacker explains how to implement it in Chrome.

This feature is available in iOS and the latest versions of macOS, but only works in Safari, which is completely inconvenient for those who prefer Chrome. In the Google browser, this function can be implemented using extensions.

Unfortunately, the company has removed the ability to display web content in floating panels from Chrome. Currently, only YouTube videos can be viewed in a separate mini-window using the Floating Panel for YouTube web application.

Install the free extension first. After installation, the function will work immediately without any additional settings.

To use it, you need to launch the application from the standard "Services" menu and open the desired video from there. There are two ways here: either find a video through a search, or log in and select something from your account.

The window itself can be scaled to the desired size and moved around the screen. When you hover over it, a small navigation bar appears, allowing you to pin the video on top of all windows, as well as navigate between pages and reload them.

The functionality is pretty basic overall, but this is the only solution for now. It completely copes with the task of watching videos from YouTube separately from the main browser window.
