Search for songs by words, play music from the device's memory, equalizer and other features of the streaming service.
1. Set up auto download of the best music
YouTube Music subscribers have access to a special playlist - "Offline Mix". The service automatically generates it from songs that the user likes or listens more often than others, and loads it into the device's memory. As a result, you get an always up-to-date list of tracks that you can listen to offline.
To enable Offline Mix in the Android version of YouTube Music, go to Settings → Library & Saved Content and enable Smart Download. Adjust the number of tracks to be saved automatically using the slider.
On iPhone, go to Settings → Content Saving and enable the Offline Mix option. Adjust the size of the mix using the slider.
2. Use an equalizer (Android only)
There is a built-in equalizer in the YouTube Music settings, which allows you to adjust the sound of the program to your taste. You can choose from presets for different styles of music, or adjust the audio using sliders manually.
3. Add your music to the program (only in Android)
If the songs you want are not in the YouTube Music catalog, you can add them from other sources.
First, download the tracks from your computer or the internet to your smartphone. Then open YouTube Music, go to Settings → Library & Saved Content and enable the Saved Files option. After that, the "Files on device" tab will appear in the library sections, on which the downloaded songs will be displayed.
4. Find songs by words
If you forget the name of the song, try to find it by the passage of the lyrics. Just search for YouTube Music.
5. Wake up to your favorite tracks (Android only)
YouTube Music subscribers can use songs from the catalog as alarm ringtones. To do this, you need the Google Clock app. If it is not installed on your device, download it from Google Play.
Open "Clock" and add a new alarm. Click on the bell icon and go to the YouTube Music tab. The recently listened and recommended songs will appear on the screen. Click on any of them - and it will become an alarm clock.
6. Disable the video sequence
YouTube Music pleases that it also plays video clips. But when you have low internet speed or limited traffic, it may not be desirable for videos to appear in the playlist. For such situations, there is a special mode available only to subscribers, in which clips are played without video sequence by default.
To enable this mode, open the "Settings" (Android) or "Settings" → "Playback" (iOS) and activate the "Clips without footage" option. After that, the program will play the clips as normal tracks. If you wish, you can include the video sequence in the player menu.
7. Improve the quality of recommendations
If you notice that the recommendations of the algorithm do not fit your taste at all, reset them and start from scratch. Go to Settings (Android) or Settings → Playback (iOS) and tap Improve Recommendations. After that, the system will offer to re-select the artists that you like. Based on this selection, YouTube Music will restart the recommendations.
