In this article we will talk about what kind of food the kidneys like - the cleansing station of our body.
The blood carries not only oxygen and nutrients necessary for life, but also various toxic and foreign substances that must be removed from the body. These substances result from:
- The metabolism occurring in the body. When food is absorbed by the body, toxins are produced that must be eliminated.
- Penetration of contaminants with food.
- The use of medicines and foreign chemicals.
The kidneys are the main organ responsible for filtering and removing all these toxic and foreign substances from the blood.
Kidney's best friends
The fruits and vegetables described in this article facilitate important kidney function. Along with water, they are the kidneys' best friends.
Excessive amounts of animal protein foods generate most of the waste products that overload the kidneys. They should be displayed.
A plant-based diet prevents kidney stones from accumulating. The only rule is to avoid plant foods rich in oxalic acid, but only if there is a tendency to form calcium oxalate stones.
Scientists from Washington State University have published a list of foods that are rich in oxalic acid, which increases the excretion of oxalate through urine. It contains foods such as spinach, rhubarb, chard, nuts, chocolate, tea, bran and strawberries.
Nephrosis
A disease that affects the kidneys and is characterized by the loss of protein in the urine. This is due to a violation of the patency of the capsule of the renal glomerulus, which filters the blood.
Nephrosis tends to slowly progress to renal failure and is accompanied by significant metabolic disorders, increased levels of lipids and cholesterol in the blood.
Diet
A strict low-protein and low-sodium vegetarian diet has been shown to be the most effective way to control progressive kidney damage caused by nephrosis.

Lean urination
Diuretic products stimulate kidney function and increase urine production. In reality, most fruits and vegetables have some degree of diuretic effect, but those described here stand out for their strong diuretic effect.
The increased urine production that these foods stimulate is, in part, helpful in relieving swelling caused by kidney or heart disease. The diuretic effect is due to the content of phytochemicals, especially flavonoids - non-nutritive components with healing properties.
A common feature of all these foods is an abundance of potassium and a very low or complete absence of sodium in the composition (increased sodium intake leads to fluid retention in the tissues (edema) and reduces the volume of urine).
Naturally, these foods are not as effective as diuretic drugs. But, unlike medicines, they can be used every day throughout life without the risk of side effects.

Kidney stone disease
The disease is also called nephrolithiasis, urolithiasis, urolithiasis. It is characterized by the formation of stones more often inside the kidney, less often in the bladder.
Stones form when substances that are supposed to dissolve in the urine form a solid sediment.
Most stones are formed from calcium oxalate, magnesium ammonium phosphate, calcium phosphate, or urate. When the stone comes out, the specialist, after proper analysis, can prescribe a more specific diet to the patient to help prevent new stones from forming.
Diet
The healthy foods described below can be used in most cases and can significantly reduce the risk of stone formation.
Those who have experienced excruciating pain from kidney stones are willing to do their best to avoid repeating the experience. Substantial changes in established eating habits are often required.

Lemon treatment is carried out for two weeks. On the first day, they drink the juice of one lemon diluted with water half an hour before breakfast. On the following days, add one lemon a day and bring to seven lemons. Then the number of lemons is reduced by one per day to one lemon on the last day.
Lemon therapy is contraindicated in children, the elderly, and those diagnosed with low calcium levels, kidney failure, or anemia. In these cases, it is not recommended to consume large quantities of lemon.
Renal failure
Kidney failure is the loss of the kidneys' ability to produce urine and excrete waste from the body.
There are two types of kidney failure:
- Acute, requiring hospitalization.
- Chronic, which is discussed in the article.
It usually progresses gradually throughout life. In severe cases, dialysis (cleansing) of the kidney becomes necessary to remove toxins from the blood as the kidneys are no longer able to excrete them through urine.
Diet
A vegetarian diet has many benefits in cases of kidney failure: it usually contains less sodium and phosphorus, and less protein and kidney-burdening substances.
The prescriber specifies the foods that should be increased or decreased. Following these guidelines helps to alleviate the course of the disease.
