  3. Changing the curvature of the lens of the eye in accordance with the distance to the visible object while maintaining focus.

In addition, the eye constantly sends information to the brain via the optic nerves. It is estimated that in the waking state, about a million nerve cells that form the retina of the eye send information to the brain in a volume equivalent to 100 megabytes per second.

To perform all these functions, the eye needs only a small amount of oxygen and a few elements found in food:

  1. Vitamin A. It is necessary for the formation of rhodopsin, a light-sensitive pigment found in the cells of the retina of the eye, as well as for moisturizing the conjunctiva (the mucous membrane of the eye) and keeping it in good condition.
  2. Carotenoids are natural dyes found in plant products. They act as antioxidants and help prevent macular degeneration.
  3. Vitamins C and E are antioxidants found exclusively in fruits, vegetables, nuts and grain sprouts. Their deficiency leads to cataracts and loss of vision.
