These programs will allow you to try on a tattoo, invite Einstein to visit and play "Tanchiki" with a friend.
1. JigSpace
JigSpace uses augmented reality to educate users about how various complex mechanisms, objects, or ideas work. With its help, you can find out what the layers of the Earth are made of, what different compartments of the space station are responsible for, due to which the jet engine works, and much more.
Each model can be turned over, brought closer and taken apart. The application library contains dozens of interactive lessons from different fields: astronomy, physics, history, cultural studies, geology. If suddenly this is not enough, then you can install Jig Workshop for iPad to create your own presentations.
2. Google Lens
Google Lens is one of those apps that seem useless at first, but quickly become indispensable. It constantly scans whatever you point your smartphone camera at. Identifies objects, plants, animals, logos and buildings, reads QR codes, translates text. And all this - with full integration with Google services.
There are many scenarios for its use. For example, if you want to know what an inscription in an unknown language means. Or how much are the shoes you like. Or what is the name of an unfamiliar flower. A separate plus of "Lens" is that you most likely don't even have to download it: it's built into Google Photos, Google Assistant, and the Google app.
3. Mondly
The Mondly language learning app uses augmented reality to help people memorize words and learn to communicate. In AR mode, the program puts an assistant in your room, who can not only pronounce words and phrases in 33 languages, but also call up three-dimensional models of called objects. You can also rehearse language situations with an assistant: buying goods in a store, talking with a waiter in a restaurant, and so on. The application recognizes your speech and will tell you if you made a mistake.
4. Civilisations AR
Civilisations AR is an app from the BBC. Here you can study in detail the artifacts of different civilizations: Greek, Egyptian, Renaissance Europe, and so on. The program allows you to look inside the sarcophagus of the pharaoh, paint a helmet of a Corinthian warrior or a Roman statue. There were also text and audio guides. True, they are only available in English.
5. INKHUNTER
With this application, you can find out how the tattoo will look on you. Choose a drawing, point the camera at the part of the body where you want to apply it, adjust the size and position - the result can be photographed and sent to social networks. A good way to discuss tattoos with friends. Or scare your parents.
6. ROAR
ROAR is a unique app that allows you to view scenes in augmented reality by aiming the camera at triggered images. For example, a Star Wars poster will allow you to see a space battle, a magazine issue - a three-dimensional model of a man from the cover. The program will also show you where you can buy the relevant products: ROAR was created primarily for brands to interact with consumers.
7. Smash Tanks
In this game, the real world becomes the battlefield. A level is created on the table or floor, at the opposite ends of which there are tanks. Some belong to you, others to the enemy. The task is to destroy enemy units by directing projectiles at them. It's not so easy: buildings, barriers and other obstacles appear between the tanks. To gain a tactical advantage, you will have to physically bypass the battlefield.
In the battle, you can use bonuses like a nuclear explosion, as well as different types of weapons. You can play alone (against bots and in weekly modes) or with a friend (on the same device or over the network).
8. Mind Map AR
Mind Map AR is a program for creating mind maps in augmented reality. You can create nodes and branches, designate them with pictures and tags, build links between them and place all this in three-dimensional space. This is a great way to remember even some confusing topic: the application has convenient navigation through the created nodes.
9. YouCam Makeup
YouCam Makeup uses roughly the same facial recognition technology as Instagram and Snapchat, but for more practical purposes. The application allows you to try on make-up and accessories: cosmetics of different colors, styles and brands, sunglasses, hair bands. In addition, training broadcasts are periodically hosted on YouCam. The application also knows how to analyze the condition of the skin from a photo, although it is better, of course, to consult a doctor for this.
10. Holo
Holo allows you to place a virtual figure of a character, person or beast in space. The collection in the application is impressive: mad scientists, superheroes, actors, activists and even the astronaut Buzz Aldrin are available to the user. Moreover, these are not just images, but animated 3D models scanned from real people and animals. With the selected character, you can take a photo or video, then send it to friends or share on social networks.
