BBC journalists contacted 177 film experts from all over the world, except perhaps Antarctica. The respondents included academicians, curators and reviewers. The result of the work done was a list of films shot from 2000 to the current year and selected by professionals as the best. We have selected the first 50 paintings in the ranking to share with you.

Since experts are a specific audience, their choice may not coincide with the tastes of the majority. Therefore, we also provide an alternative rating for films of the 21st century, based on the ratings of ordinary viewers. The source was the international resource database IMDb.

Hopefully, these two lists will remove the question of what to watch in your free time for a long time.
