If there are no instructions, and the roller blinds look like itching to wash them, consider a few important points.

• If possible, trust the professionals and take the product to the dry cleaner. It can be expensive, but it certainly won't ruin the fabric.
• Do not wet curtains made from natural fabrics (eg wood based). Under the influence of moisture, such a canvas will creep. In this case, only gentle dry cleaning is permissible.
• Give up the idea of washing products in a typewriter. Firstly, even in the most delicate mode, the fabric will rub against the drum and will inevitably lose its protective coating. Secondly, you will have to fold the curtains to fit them into the typewriter. And this will lead to the fact that creases appear on them. Thirdly, some canvases contain plastic elements that are likely to break.
• When deciding on wet cleaning, try to do without detergents. They can stain, destroy the finish, or damage delicate fabrics. Use them only as a last resort.
• If you cannot do without detergents, buy the most gentle, non-aggressive gels for fabrics and upholstered furniture. It is important that they are free of granules and abrasive particles. The simplest, economical and safest variant of the detergent is soapy water: dissolve a couple of tablespoons of grated laundry or baby soap in 2-3 liters of liquid at room temperature.
• Do not soak stains in detergent solution. This can wash out the color of the fabric.
• Do not use bleaches, stain removers, solvents.
• Do not scrub the cloth with the abrasive side of sponges or hard brushes. Especially when it comes to patterned curtains. Harsh cleaning is likely to erase not only dirt, but also the top layer of impregnation. The ornament can also be damaged, which means that the product will lose its appearance.
• Do not try to iron the curtain or use a steamer. High temperature can deform and discolor the fabric.

How to clean roller blinds

Dry cleaning is the safest way to give your roller shutters their neat appearance. It is suitable if the curtains are not too dirty and there are no obvious greasy, deeply ingrained stains on them.

• Microfiber cloth or dishwashing sponge.

How to do

Put on gloves and open the shade to its full height, moving it to the "maximum sun protection" position. Use a vacuum cleaner or tissue to remove dust from the canvas. It is important to do this on both sides.

Examine the surface of the fabric carefully. Try to remove dirt and stains with a tissue, the soft side of a sponge, or a rag.

If that doesn't work, use a regular stationery eraser. Rub gently, being careful not to damage the protective coating of the canvas.

How to wash roller blinds

If the dirt cannot be removed dry, you can try washing it off. But only if the manufacturer allows wet cleaning in the instructions, and the curtain is not made of thin natural material.

Find out if the curtain can tolerate moisture and detergent. To do this, apply it to an inconspicuous area of the canvas and observe how the fabric behaves. If it deforms, wrinkles, changes color, breaks, you will have to refuse to wash.

If the fabric is resistant to water and detergent, unfold the curtain in the bath. Be careful not to create folds.

Using a soft sponge dipped in detergent, wipe the entire surface of the canvas. Be careful not to apply pressure to avoid damaging the fabric and the pattern on it.

Then carefully remove the solution with clean warm water using a shower head.

After rinsing, blot the fabric with rags and spread on a large towel. The curtain should dry only in a horizontal position. And only in a natural way: you cannot use a heater, hairdryer or put the canvas in direct sunlight.

Make sure the fabric is completely dry before returning the curtain to the curtain rod.
