How to wash

Products made of dense cotton fabric can be washed at temperatures up to 95 ° C, but it is better to experiment with hot water less often, otherwise the fibers of the fabric will quickly collapse, and a hole will appear on your favorite shirt. White items can be washed at temperatures up to 65 ° C, colored items can be washed at temperatures between 30 and 40 ° C (washing in hot water may discolor garments). The optimal spin mode is up to 800 rpm.

Wash colored and white items separately. Check your clothes for fading before putting them in the machine. Moisten a corner or seam of the garment with soapy water and rub it over with a dry cotton pad. If a distinct color mark remains on it, it is better to wash such a thing by hand.

Soak clothes with stains before washing in warm water with the addition of a stain remover. It is better not to soak colored things for a long time, otherwise the fabric will lose brightness.

How to dry

After washing, shake the garment to smooth out wrinkles and hang it on a rope or tumble dryer. Tough cotton items can be tumbled dry to keep your favorite terry robe soft, even without the conditioner.

Cotton knits should dry on a flat surface, such as a tumble dryer covered with a towel. Hanging a wet cotton sweater on a string can cause it to stretch and lose its shape.

Do not overdry cotton clothes, otherwise you will be tortured to iron the creases on the fabric. If the garment does take too long to dry, sprinkle it with water before ironing. Cotton can be ironed at high temperature with steam.

To make things dry faster and be soft, you can get a tumble dryer. You simply load the laundry into the drum and take it out warm and dry. Such devices do not take up much space: the Italian brand has a narrow model that fits easily into tight closets, closets or small bathrooms. It can even be installed directly on the washing machine.

Candy tumble dryers are equipped with a special reservoir to collect water, so they do not need to be connected to a drain. If you wash and dry your clothes every day, you won't have to worry about the bills: the device runs on a heat pump and is energy efficient.

Down jackets

How to wash

First of all, study the information on the sewn-in tag: perhaps only dry cleaning is suitable for your down jacket. If you can wash it, unfasten the hood and remove the fur. Check if there are any holes in the pockets or on the lining, otherwise after washing you will have to scoop out the escaped filler from the machine.

Fasten the down jacket with a zipper and buttons, turn it inside out and put in the machine with a couple of balls for washing. You can use regular tennis balls instead. They will prevent the filler from clumping.

For washing, it is better to use a special liquid detergent: ordinary powder is more difficult to rinse out and leaves stains on the fabric. Wash the down jacket at a temperature not exceeding 30 ° C with an additional rinse, and set the spin to 600 rpm.

How to dry

After washing, unfasten the fasteners and turn the down jacket to the right side. You can dry it on a hanger, but you will have to shake the jacket periodically, whipping the filler.

If the apartment is cool, the jacket with natural down will dry for a long time, and the filler will start to squeak. In this case, a drying machine will help out: the jacket can be dried in it at a minimum temperature. Pre-wring the item by hand or in the washer so that no water drips from the down jacket.

Wool

How to wash

Wool clothes are capricious in their care: if you wash your favorite sweater in too hot water, it will decrease by several sizes, and you will not be able to restore its former look. For some things, washing is completely contraindicated - for example, it is better to give a cashmere jacket to dry cleaning, otherwise you can say goodbye to it right away.

Woolen clothes should be washed in a delicate mode so that the water temperature does not exceed 30 ° C. It is possible to squeeze out such things in a typewriter only at minimum speed.

For washing, do not use powder, but special delicate products: they will gently remove dirt and soften the fibers so that the clothes do not prick. As a last resort, a mild shampoo will do, but then you will have to add an extra rinse cycle.

How to dry

After washing, do not twist woolen garments by hand: rough handling will cause them to lose their shape. To remove excess water, place the sweater on a clean terry towel, roll it up and roll. The towel will absorb the water, and the sweater will dry faster after this procedure.

To prevent wool from stretching, dry them on a horizontal surface. You can use a tumble dryer, but make sure it has the right setting. If the image of the dryer is crossed out on the label of the clothes, it is better not to risk it: the thing may become covered with pellets or decrease in size. Wool perfectly absorbs odors, so things should dry in a well-ventilated area away from the kitchen.

It is better to iron at a minimum temperature, turning the clothes inside out. To prevent shiny marks from appearing on the fabric, iron it through wet gauze, gently applying an iron.

Denim

How to wash

The jeans are machine washable up to 40 ° C. To prevent them from shedding, it is better to use a liquid detergent for colored items. The spin can be set to 600 rpm, and even a mode with 800 rpm is suitable for dense fabric.

If your jeans are frankly dirty, soak them for half an hour in warm water with the addition of a special agent before washing. Gently rub the stained areas and send to the typewriter. Leaving jeans in a basin of water all day is not worth it: there is a risk that the fabric will shed and rust will appear on the fittings.

Before putting an item in the machine, close the zipper and button, turn it inside out and make sure there is nothing in the pockets. New jeans can fade at first, so wash them separately from your other garments.

How to dry

It is better to dry jeans vertically, hanging them by the belt. Pre-straighten them so that there are no obvious creases. Denim is not very demanding, so you can send these things to the tumble dryer.

If the pants are too short, there is a way to lengthen them slightly. Step on the bottom edge of your wet jeans, hold the belt in your hands, and gently pull it upwards. Repeat the procedure a couple of times, and then hang the item to dry.

After washing, tight trousers do not need to be ironed at all, they will perfectly straighten out on the body. Straight and flared models are best ironed from the inside out in a mode suitable for cotton.

Synthetics

How to wash

It is recommended to wash synthetic clothes in a typewriter on a delicate cycle. It is better to put things made of fabrics imitating silk in bags for washing to avoid puffs. A suitable temperature is 30-40 ° C, and the maximum allowable spin mode is 600 rpm. An anti-static conditioner can be added to the powder, so clothes will not stick to the body and shock.

Wash fleece items with liquid detergents and do not wring out either in a typewriter or by hand. Let the water drain and hang the clothes to dry. It will dry quickly even without first twisting it.

Membrane items like jackets and ski pants can be machine washed, but be careful. Set the delicate cycle with minimum spin, and use only detergents designed for membrane fabrics for washing.

How to dry

Hang your synthetic shirts and blouses on a tumble dryer, while jumpers and cardigans should dry horizontally to maintain their shape. Synthetics can be sent to the tumble dryer, but make sure they have a suitable setting. Such fabrics are afraid of hot water and air, so the device should handle them with extreme gentleness.

You can iron synthetics at a minimum temperature, otherwise the fabric may melt. It is better to iron things from the inside out and only through cheesecloth - it can be slightly moistened to smooth out the folds faster.

Silk

How to wash

Natural silk is a capricious fabric, so it is better to wash such clothes by hand. Forget bleaches and harsh stain removers, they can ruin things. For washing, use special gels for delicate fabrics or regular shampoo.

Silk is suitable for water temperatures up to 40 ° C. Soak the garment for a maximum of 15 minutes and wash it gently; do not rub with all your might or stretch the fabric. Rinse the garment thoroughly to ensure it is free of streaks after drying. Rinse several times, gradually lowering the temperature of the water.

How to dry

Silk must not be twisted: wet fabric can be easily damaged. Squeeze gently, let the water drain, and then dry the item with a terry towel (like wool).

It is better to dry silk clothes in a horizontal position. You can use a clothes dryer or a rope, but then you should put a layer of thick fabric under the clothes (at least the same terry towel). Clothespins are prohibited, there will be traces of them.

Iron your silk garments on the lowest temperature inside out. It is not worth steaming or sprinkling it with water: stains and streaks will appear. To get rid of them, you will have to wash and dry the item again. When ironing the product, let it cool down, otherwise creases will reappear.

Linen

How to wash

Uncolored linen can be washed at temperatures up to 90 ° C, while colored items can be washed cooler - 30–40 ° C. Such things can endure spinning at 600 rpm, but you should not twist it by hand: you can overdo it and stretch or tear the fabric.

Chlorine bleaches are not suitable for flax. If you need to remove stubborn stains, use oxygenated products. Soak clothes with them before washing and set the extra rinse mode.

If there is embroidery on a linen item, it is better not to take risks and wash such a product by hand so that it does not fade. It is impossible to soak for a long time and violently rub the area with the pattern, so you will only ruin the clothes.

How to dry

To keep things made of colored linen from fading, dry them in partial shade, not in the open sun. There is no need to wait until the fabric is completely dry. Linen is easier to iron when it is slightly damp.

The temperature for ironing is the same as for cottons. Light things can be ironed from the front side, and dark ones - strictly from the wrong side, otherwise they will be covered with shiny stripes. It is also better to iron the embroidery from the seamy side so that it does not lose its volume.

Creases in wrinkled fabrics like linen and cotton can be difficult to remove. A good dryer will help. Older machines could ruin clothes, while modern machines take care of the laundry and allow you to work less iron. Candy even has a special shirt mode to prevent wrinkles. Clothes after it do not need to be ironed at all - you take them out and hang them in the closet.

Another plus of the dryer is that there is no need to litter the apartment or bathroom with things and wait for days until they dry. If you have an Android smartphone with NFC, use the mobile app to control the Candy. Using voice commands, you can select the desired program, start drying and check if the machine is working properly.
