How to draw a simple bump with a pencil or felt-tip pen
What do you need
- Paper;
- black felt-tip pen or pencil.
How to draw
Draw two slightly rounded strokes at the top of the sheet at the same level.
At an angle to them, draw two more strokes in the other direction. On the right, between the two rows of strokes, draw a bracket - this is the tip of the bump.
Draw the third row of strokes below and to the left of the previous one. Connect the rows with oblique strokes, leaving for other lines that will be here later, gaps equal to the width of the pen of your felt-tip pen. If you draw with a pencil, you don't have to leave gaps and just overlap the lines.
Also draw the fourth row. Please note that each next row is wider than the previous one.
Draw the last row, it ends on the left with an arc, the "back" of which is directed to the lower left corner of the sheet.
From top to bottom, draw oblique lines through the gaps that you left before, so that you get scales.
End the lower right edge of the cone with an arc symmetrical to the lower left edge.
Draw a cone stalk with parallel lines and place a point in each scale.
Color brown if desired. If you have any questions, then watch this video:

A simple pine cone without any decor can still be drawn like this:
How to draw cones on a spruce branch with colored pencils
What do you need
- Paper;
- simple pencil;
- black liner;
- colour pencils.
How to draw
In the center of the sheet, outline a shape that looks like a drop with a simple pencil, its pointed end should be directed downward. On the left, draw the second, so that the outline of the right overlaps with it a little. These are two future bumps.
From the top left edge of the first bump, start drawing a zigzag line with the liner, it will go from edge to edge of the shape, from top to bottom.
Fill in the entire bump with this zigzag pattern.
Now, from the top right edge of the same cone, start drawing a zigzag in the other direction, so that its lines fall between the lines of the first.
Fill in the entire bump with this zigzag.
Draw on the left edge of the scale cones, they represent the corners directed downward.
Draw the same scales along the right contour.
Similarly, draw a zigzag line in the second bump. Please note: where the first bump overlaps it, the right outline is not visible, so the zigzag does not reach the end.
Draw on the second cone on top of the first a second zigzag line and decorate the edges with scales - just like with the first cone.
Draw two angled lines over the buds.
Draw needle strokes around them on both sides.
Add another twig to the right of the buds.
Color the cones with brown pencil and the spruce twig with green. This video will help you:

Drawing this bump with pencils is also very easy, even children can handle:
How to draw a New Year's composition with a pine cone in watercolor
What do you need
- Paper;
- watercolor paints;
- brushes;
- palette;
- glass of water.
How to draw
From the center of the paper, step back a little to the left and draw a drop-shaped shape with a pointed tip pointing upwards to the left with a heavily diluted light brown paint. Draw three small strokes to the right and left, extending upward from the shape. This is a cone blank.
With scarlet paint, draw a circle to the right of the bump. Do not paint over it completely, leave a white dot inside.
Draw two more of these berry circles. Above them, mark a smaller berry, already without a white center.
Add more scarlet berry dots.
From the berries to the right upwards, draw a straight line with green paint, approximately equal to the length of the cone. On the left, connect its ends with three arcs of approximately the same length, as shown in the figure, to form the jagged edge of the leaf. Paint this part green.
Draw the right half of the same leaf in the same way: from the middle, draw three connected arcs to the right and paint over.
Also draw a second leaf next to the first.
Add colors to the bottom edges of the leaves with emerald green paint. With it, draw a spruce twig under the cone.
Mix green and emerald colors, finish painting the end of the spruce branch. To the left of the cone, depict a leaf that looks like the leaves on the right, but do it more casually.
Using the same color, but slightly diluted, add spruce branches to the free space to the left and right of the cone and to the right of the berries.
Use the same paint as the base for the bud, but this time don't thin it out very much. Draw wavy scales at the tip of the bump. There is no need to write out the details, it is enough to outline the general texture.
Fill the entire bump with scales. Use different thicknesses of paint to create a play of light. Let the drawing dry.
Add dark brown flakes (like burnt umber) to the bottom of the cone and here and there over the entire surface. This will make the drawing more voluminous. Draw thin stems between the berries with the same color.
Add thin center lines to the leaves with a dark color. Look for the whole drawing process in this video:

How to draw a realistic pine cone on a branch with a simple pencil
What do you need
- Paper;
- simple pencil;
- eraser with a thin edge.
How to draw
Draw a diagonal, slightly curved line in the upper half of the sheet and two shorter strips extending from it are the branches of a Christmas tree. At the lower end of the main branch, make a thickening with an additional line.
Add a few dots at the bottom of the twig to add texture. On the right branch, draw needles pointing up at different angles.
Vary the thickness of the needles and their shape to add naturalness to the pattern. Closer to the base of the branch, the needles are longer than at the end.
Draw a thickening just below the middle of a long diagonal line - here a thin shoot extends from a dense branch. Draw needles on it too.
As in the previous branch, work on the needles, they should be of different thicknesses and shades and directed upward along the branch at different angles. Each needle is tapered at the end. Thicken the outlines of the shoots so that the branches don't look too thin compared to the needles.
Also draw needles on the third branch.
Draw a line down from the center of the third branch and around it draw a symmetrical shape with rounded ends: the top will be wider than the bottom.
Shade the shape with slightly spaced diagonal lines at an angle of approximately 45 °.
Change the direction of the stripes and shade the shape again, slightly rounding the lines to give the bump some volume.
Draw scales down the edges of the bump.
Mentally divide the cone into three parts with vertical lines and along the left imaginary line draw the texture more clearly, turning the diamonds into scales rounded down with clear outlines and shadows.
Draw the scales along the right edge of the cone in the same way. There, the gaze falls on them not directly, but at an angle, the scales will be narrow and not so clear.
Barely touching the sheet with a pencil, paint over the bump to give it a light gray tone. Add a vertical shadow by painting the scales with a darker color and painting over their individual areas.
Go through the whole bump, refining the details, adding shadows and textures. Make deep dark shadows under each scale, the bottom of the cone should be darker than the top. Check if shoots with needles are lost against the background of the cones and, if necessary, add tones to them.
Use a thin eraser to erase the pencil in the center of some of the scales on the left side of the bump. It is from here that the light falls, so the bump on the left should be noticeably lighter than on the right.

These cones have a different shape, but drawing them is also not difficult:
How to draw a bump with colored markers and pencils
What do you need
- Paper;
- a set of markers.
How to draw
Start with the berries: draw a circle and two incomplete circles that intersect with it.
Next to the berries, draw a horizontal, elongated shape, as shown in the picture.
Draw two similar ones above this shape, slightly smaller in size - one of them will be partially hidden behind the berries. Connect their edges with lines to the first shape.
Draw the third tier of the pine cone. The middle element roughly repeats the previous ones, and the two outer ones look like triangles with rounded corners.
Draw the fourth tier: it consists of two elements that resemble the very first in shape. Remember to round off all the corners to make the bump look more cartoonish.
Connect each tier with lines to the previous one. Visually, you should get sticking up columns of different shapes.
Add 2-3 more tiers in the same way.
The composition is crowned by the top element, which looks like a diamond with rounded corners.
Draw a line from the berries to the right and up and draw a symmetrical leaf.
Draw another leaf next to it. To the left of the bump, draw two lines to the left and up and draw schematic triangular needles extending from them. Leave a white space on the surface of the needles, which will then need to be painted over with green.
Next to the first, draw a second branch with smaller needles. Use a light brown felt-tip pen to draw crescents at the bottom of the berries.
Paint the berries bright red, the leaves bright green, and the needles dark green.
Add a darker shade of green on top of the leaves, especially closer to the stems.
Draw with a gray felt-tip pen the right vertical edge of each of the cone scales, as shown in the figure.
Paint all vertical edges brown. Give the same color to the branches on the left.
Using the same color, draw horizontal lines in the center of each of the scales. Give a little brown to the left side of the scales.
Paint over any remaining white surfaces with a yellow-brown color and, if desired, trace the outline of the cone with a black felt-tip pen.

With felt-tip pens, you can draw such a disheveled bump:
How to draw a pine cone on a twig with gouache
What do you need
- Paper;
- gouache set;
- brushes;
- palette;
- a glass of water.
How to draw
Prime the paper with a wide brush, covering it with white paint. Immediately on top of the white paint, apply the blue paint in broad strokes, brighter at the bottom and almost transparent at the top.
On the lower right side of the paper, draw a small brown arc.
Add another next to it. Draw the next arc on top of the first one and add a second one next to it - this will be the second tier of the cone.
On top of the second, going up and to the left, add a third tier.
Draw the entire bump in the same way, it consists of eight tiers. It is not necessary to make the scales strictly arcuate - their shape may vary. Mix brown and white in different proportions to give the bud a patchy appearance.
Draw the tip of the cone tapered upwards.
Draw in a different, darker shade of brown a twig above the bud.
Use the same color to add shadows on the border of the lower scales.
Make the shadows wider at the top of the bump than at the bottom. It is good if the previous paint is not completely dry yet and the colors will mix a little.
Add some white in brown and paint on the lower parts of the scales, without completely covering what was drawn earlier.
With the same color, draw several lines over the twig. You can add a couple of white strokes. Then wash your brush and use black paint on the tip. Add shadow to the top of the pinecone.
Go with light black strokes all over the bump, adding shadows at the joints of the scales.
Add snow on some of the tips of the scales with white strokes.
Mix the green and blue and draw a line to the left of the bump. Draw long shaggy thorny strokes extending from it, each of the strokes is drawn casually in one motion and tapers at the end. In order for the paint to lay down better in thin lines, it needs to be slightly diluted with water.
In the same way, draw a green shoot at the top of the branch and random islands of greenery around the cone.
Add greenery under and above the branch on the right side of the picture.
Add black to the paint and paint on each island of green a few dark, almost black strokes. Paint in black a thin shoot extending upwards from the main branch.
Take some diluted white paint on an old toothbrush and spray paint over the drawing to simulate snow.
