We have collected different methods: from the most elementary to mathematically accurate.
How to draw a star using a protractor
What do you need
- Protractor;
- paper;
- pencil;
- eraser;
- felt-tip pen.
How to draw a star
Place the protractor on the paper and trace the rounded part from the 0 ° mark to the 180 ° mark.
Flip the protractor and trace it, drawing an even circle.
Attach the protractor from the inside to the right side of the circle. Make a mark at the top below the 0 ° division. Mark a 72 ° angle on the right.
Make another mark after 72 °, that is, at an angle of 144 °.
Move the protractor so that the last mark is zero. Place the point at a 72 ° angle.
Repeat the last step and make another mark on the circle, 72 ° apart.
There should be five marks in total - according to the number of ends of the star. Use a straight line to connect the top point and the third. Then, in the same way, draw a line between the first mark and the fourth.
Connect the second and fifth marks.
Connect the fifth point with the third, and the second with the fourth.
Erase the lines inside the star and outside. Using straight lines using a felt-tip pen, connect all the vertices of the shape.
How to draw a star using a compass and ruler
What do you need
- Paper;
- a ruler (you can take any object with a straight side that is easy to circle: the measuring scale itself is not needed for this method);
- pencil;
- compass;
- eraser.
How to draw a star
Draw a straight, horizontal line. Place the compass needle on the left end of the line. Place the compass pencil a little further than the middle of the line. Mark the top and bottom parts of the circle.
Sketch the other side in the same way.
Draw a straight vertical line through the intersections of the sketches. It should split the horizontal in half at right angles.
Draw a circle around the marked lines.
Now you need to halve the left side of the horizontal line. To do this, place the compass needle again on the left end of the line, and the pencil a little further than the middle of this segment. Mark the parts of the circle at the top and bottom.
Repeat on the other side, with the needle in the center of the circle. Draw a vertical line through the intersections of the sketches.
Fix the needle at the intersection of this vertical line and the horizontal one. Measure with a compass to the top of the other vertical line. Make a mark on the right side of the horizontal line.
Measure with a compass the distance from this point to the upper edge of the vertical line.
The top edge will be the first point to draw the star. Place the needle in there and make marks on the right and left of the circle.
Move the needle to the left point and make a mark at the bottom left of the circle. Repeat the same on the right side.
Connect the third point with the fifth and with the first (the counting goes clockwise, starting from the top first point).
Connect the fifth point with the second, and the second with the fourth.
Connect the fourth mark with the fifth. Erase unnecessary pencil sketches.

Another fun way to draw an even star:
You can build a star with a ruler and compass if you know the radius of the circle. All the details are explained in this video:
How to draw a star from a corner
What do you need
- Paper;
- pencil;
- ruler - optional;
- felt-tip pen;
- eraser.
How to draw a star
Use a pencil to draw a straight, vertical line. If you want everything to be perfectly straight, use a ruler.
Draw another straight line from the top to the left at an angle.
From the top to the right, draw another line at the same angle as the previous one.
Add a horizontal line just above the middle of the vertical one. Then draw another parallel line just below the middle.
With a felt-tip pen, circle the corner above the upper horizontal line.
On the left, on a horizontal line, draw a line the same length as the sides of the upper corner. From its edge, draw a stroke down to the right until the intersection of two lines.
Draw a corner on the right side in the same way.
From the left vertex, draw a tilted line. The line should be the same length as the others. From the edge, bring another line up to the right and finish it slightly below the second horizontal line.
Draw the fifth point of the star in the same way.
Erase any excess pencil sketches.

Here's a similar but simpler way to depict a star:
How to draw a star without taking your hands off the paper
What do you need
- Paper;
- pencil, pen or felt-tip pen;
- eraser - optional.
How to draw a star
Draw a straight horizontal line from left to right.
Without lifting the tool from the paper, draw a line at an angle down to the left, which is approximately equal in length to the first. Its end should be slightly to the right of the beginning of the first line.
Then, up at an angle, draw another line of about the same length. Its end should be above the center of the horizontal line.
From the top end of the star, draw the same line down to the right.
Connect the edge of the last drawn line to the beginning of the first. If you drew a star with a pencil, you can erase the extra lines inside.
