Why and how to use face scrubs
Scrubs get rid of dead cells, deeply cleanse, moisturize and nourish the skin, improve the complexion. In order for funds, including homemade ones, to work this way, you need to follow simple rules:
- Before the procedure, remove makeup and warm up the skin with a steam bath or a hot towel. This is necessary so that the pores open and it is easier for the scrub to cleanse the skin of impurities.
- When applying, avoid the area around the eyes: the skin there is too thin and delicate to scrub.
- Store ready-made homemade scrubs in the refrigerator in a sealed container for no more than a day.

When you can't use scrubs
Scrubbing is quite harsh and can injure your skin. Therefore, you will have to refuse it if you have:

1. Scrub from oatmeal and soda from blackheads
Soda pulls out dirt and grease from the pores and removes the notorious blackheads. Oatmeal gently exfoliates dead cells, leaving the skin soft and soft.
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons of oatmeal
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon boiling water.
Preparation and application
Grind the oatmeal in a coffee grinder. Dissolve baking soda in boiling water. Mix the baking soda solution and cereal in a bowl, cover and let stand at room temperature for 10 minutes. Then mix the scrub thoroughly.

2. Coffee scrub with yogurt for anti-grease
Coffee grounds cleanse the skin well, and natural yogurt will absorb excess fat. This is exactly what oily skin needs.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon of coffee grounds (you can take the one that remains from breakfast, or dilute the ground coffee with hot water);
- 1 tablespoon sugar-free natural yogurt.
Use yoghurts of medium fat content - from 2, 7 to 4, 5%. They have the optimal consistency for scrubs.
Preparation and application
Mix all the ingredients and apply the resulting mixture to the skin. Massage your face for 5 minutes and leave the scrub on the skin for another 5 minutes for more effect.
Rinse off the rest of the product with cool water. Yogurt nourishes and moisturizes the skin well, so it is not necessary to use a cream after such a scrub.
3. Semolina and strawberry scrub for super hydration
Semolina will gently remove dead cells. Ripe berries and rich sour cream will leave dry and chapped skin soft and velvety.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon sour cream with a fat content of at least 25%;
- 2 medium strawberries;
- 1 tablespoon semolina
Preparation and application
Mash the berries with a fork and combine them with sour cream. Add semolina and mix thoroughly.
Apply the scrub to your skin and massage your face for 5 minutes. Rinse off the product with cool water, moisturize the skin with cream.
Use this face scrub immediately after preparation, otherwise the semolina will soften and become useless.
4. Sugar mint scrub for deep cleansing
Sugar cleanses the skin, olive oil nourishes it, and mint refreshes it.
Ingredients
- 1 heaping tablespoon of sugar (white or brown - your choice);
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1-2 drops of peppermint essential oil.
Preparation and application
Combine the oils together. Add them to the sugar and mix thoroughly.
Apply the scrub to the skin, massage for 5 minutes. Rinse off the rest of the product with cool water.
5. Rice and banana scrub for soft and fresh skin
Scrubbing with rice is suitable for all skin types. Banana nourishes the skin, saturates it with vitamins and makes it velvety.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons of white rice
- ½ ripe banana;
- 1 tablespoon coconut milk
Preparation and application
Grind the rice in a coffee grinder. Mash the banana with a fork or blender, mix with rice and coconut milk.
Apply the scrub to your face, massage for 5-7 minutes. Rinse off the rest of the scrub with cool water. Moisturize your face with cream if necessary.
