A well-known proverb says: "Man himself is the smith of his own happiness." Indeed, it is only in our power to attract good luck and shape our destiny the way we want it to be. How to achieve this, tells the constant author of Lifehacker Yakomaskin Andrey.

Shared Secrets of Those Who Don't Believe in Luck

The wonderful Soviet poet Bella Akhmadulina wrote:

My comrades need no luck!

My comrades will get their way!

We are used to seeing luck as a set of circumstances that, at the right moment, add up to our favor. However, there are people who reject the very idea of fortune and still succeed in life. They follow simple rules that turn their luck and bad luck into preparation and planning.

I propose to get to know them and take them on board.

Match Needs and Opportunities

A friend of mine really got the idea of becoming a gambler. At the very beginning, he lost a significant amount and the first thing he did was complain to me about failure. He wanted big, and most importantly, quick money.

A year and a half has passed since then, during which time he completed courses of stock brokers, studied a mountain of professional literature, and today I hear only joy about the found vocation and the results of the efforts made.

Luck in life is often determined by just two indicators: needs and opportunities. And if the first is much larger than the second, then it becomes very easy to blame failure for everything. Therefore, it is worth either developing your capabilities, or simply becoming more modest.

Expect the unexpected

There is a very good saying for this rule:

An umbrella is a symbolic item, a thing that you always need to take with you so that it does not rain

In order not to be surprised by the unexpected, it is enough to bring a little planning into your life. In October, go outside - take an umbrella, if you are going to a restaurant - book a table in advance, you constantly lose your keys - buy a large keychain.

Yes, luck is really a set of circumstances. But this does not mean that they cannot be predicted - or at least try to do it. Plan!

Treat small things with a smile

Once in front of my house I found this picture: small children were playing with a ball on the playground, and at some point the ball rolled onto an adjacent path in the very center of a large puddle. The guys approached her, and, without thinking twice, one boy in rubber boots went to fetch the ball. Having already taken it in his hands and moving it back, he lost his balance and, falling into this very puddle, poured spray on the guys standing next to him.

At that moment there was a deathly silence. Then I expected screams and recriminations, but instead the guys burst out with such laughter, pointing at each other, that even I involuntarily smiled.

Yes, unpleasant surprises happen to us, but you need to be able, if not to treat them with humor, then at least not to take them too personally.

As my wife says, spilled salt is for cleaning, not buying an insurance policy.

Finally

There are no pathological losers, and there are no people to whom luck sticks. Our luck is the result of our efforts, control over our own life, and planning. Only we decide how permissible it is to leave our life to chance.

And as a parting word, I will leave you with the advice of Mikhail Weller:

- But there are accidents when everything collapses?

- A real person has practically none! Caesar in a small boat ran into the entire enemy fleet - ordered to drive to the flagship and declared everyone his prisoners! Believe in yourself! Believe. And to do everything possible - then the impossible will turn out by itself!

I wish you success!
