The pursuit of success has become an obsession for many. People are ready to make any sacrifices just to achieve this success. But keeping him and staying true to himself is much more difficult.
Life after success can be harder than everyone thinks. Essentialism author Greg McKeon once asked, "Why don't successful people and companies automatically become more successful?" The answer is simple: because success is a catalyst for failure.
It is easy to be invisible and unknown. When you make a mistake, no one but yourself knows about it. But if you are in everyone's sight, everyone is just waiting for you to make a mistake. Constant pressure destroys those views and values of yours, which served as the key to success.
This is why success is often a short-lived pleasure. After all, when you achieve it, life becomes not easier, but more difficult.
Success is harder to survive than failure
Almost all people can endure the vicissitudes of fate, but if you want to test a person's character, give him power.

For most people, privilege does more harm than good. Usually, after a person achieves success and receives some kind of privilege (money, fame, awards), one of two things happens.
- We forget about the reason for success and think only about its consequences. Instead of improving in what we do, we rest on our laurels. This is why the children of successful people so often do not succeed. They see only its fruits, but they do not know the prerequisites.
- Or we are constantly stressed that we must continue to succeed. Many do not cope with this and even lose their careers.
Success and achievement are not the same
The difference between the concepts of "success" and "achievement" is not noticeable at first glance, but in fact it is very significant. Success is our subjective feeling, and achievements are an objective reflection of what we have achieved. It is possible to have many achievements and not be successful at the same time.
This happens quite often: people who have all the external indicators of success feel lost and do not remember why they once began to strive for their goals. What was once a sincere hobby for them turned into a need for recognition from the outside, a constant need to receive more and more.
Instead of thinking about why we want to achieve something, we only start looking for effective ways to achieve this goal, usually even neglecting our principles.
If motivation turns from internal to external, the quality of work decreases. For a while, it can still be maintained at the same high level, but often this comes at the expense of health and relationships.
How to become successful and not lose yourself
If success is your main goal in life, then most likely you will not be successful. Chasing success is like chasing happiness. Both should not be considered a goal. They are a consequence of your actions and your attitude to life.
Success comes when your actions are consistent with your beliefs and values. And you can keep it (although this is difficult due to the additional pressure) if you continue to adhere to your original principles: that is, do not change yourself.
Then you will continue to develop in your business, even becoming a world champion. You will give up temptation. You will not let self-esteem control your life. You will not abandon your beliefs and loved ones.
Don't forget why you are moving towards your goal. This is perhaps the most difficult thing you will have to do on the road to success.
