It was for the role of Princess Audrey Hepburn that she received her first and only acting Oscar. At that time, she was only 23 years old, but nevertheless, the actress immediately turned into a style icon and a universal favorite.

2. The Princess Bride

  • USA, 1987.
  • Adventure fantasy, melodrama.
  • Duration: 98 minutes.
  • IMDb: 8, 1.

Beautiful Buttercup is going to marry Westley the farm laborer, but he is captured by the pirates. Then the poor girl has to promise to become the wife of a vain and cowardly prince. However, right before the wedding, the heroine is kidnapped by bandits.

Robin Wright herself doubted that she would be chosen for the role of the princess, but director Rob Reiner, without a shadow of a doubt, approved the actress as soon as she entered the room. And I was not mistaken: the actors play excellently, and the film itself turned out to be extremely original and far from fabulous templates.

Later, Robin Wright became even more famous, playing in the movie "Forrest Gump", where her partner was Tom Hanks. The pinnacle of Wright's career was the action-packed political series House of Cards. There, the actress played the role of First Lady Claire Underwood, who turned into the head of state in front of the audience.

3. Little princess

  • USA, 1995.
  • Melodrama, family film.
  • Duration: 97 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 7.

The action takes place during the First World War. Little girl Sarah remains in a private boarding house during the absence of her father, who goes to fight. The headmistress immediately disliked the new pupil, but she is forced to endure Sarah, since her dad is very rich. However, everything changes when the news of the death of the child's father comes.

For director Alfonso Cuarón, Little Princess was the first film shot outside of his native Mexico. And already in this work, one can discern the outstanding talent of the director: fabulousness and lightness are combined with thoughtful drama, and the skill of cameraman Emmanuel Lubezki creates an elusive effect of presence.

The title of the film (and at the same time of the novel by Francis Eliza Burnett) slightly deceives the audience's expectations: the father calls the heroine his "little princess", although that ordinary girl is of non-royal blood. Still, Sarah, like no one else, corresponds to the role of a real princess - after all, she is sweet, courageous and kind to people.

4. The story of eternal love

  • Comedy, melodrama.
  • Duration: 121 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 0.

Smart and independent orphan Daniel de Barbarak finds himself in the service of his stepmother. But the girl does not despair and herself takes fate into her own hands, and the great genius and inventor Leonardo da Vinci helps her in this.

The film directed by Andy Tennant offers his own version of the Cinderella story, which will appeal to fans of fairy tales, fans of adventure stories and just everyone who loves and appreciates good cinema. The magnificent scenery and costumes will take the audience back to the Renaissance. Drew Barrymore showed a very distinctive and strong heroine on the screen, and the rest of the actors look no less beautiful (especially the unique Angelica Huston, known for her role as Morticia Addams).

Modest "nerd" Mia leads a completely ordinary life, but suddenly finds out that she is the only heir to the throne of a small European country. Now she has to get to know her grandmother - Queen Clarissa, as well as hastily learn everything that a real princess is supposed to know.

A touching film about the transformation of a schoolgirl became a ticket to a big movie for Anne Hathaway. True, the actress had to be a hostage of her delicate appearance for a long time and play princesses and other romantic heroines.

6. Enchanted Ella

This gives the heroine a lot of inconvenience, so she goes in search of the very fairy who applied the enchantment to get rid of the gift of obedience. On the way, Ella has to go through many adventures and meet a handsome prince.

In Enchanted Ella, you can appreciate Anne Hathaway's remarkable singing skills. And eight years later, the actress played in the musical drama Les Miserables, where she also sang well and received many awards for her role.

The naive and cheerful princess Giselle, due to the intrigues of an evil sorceress, finds herself in modern New York. The girl meets the pragmatic lawyer Robert, who does not believe in true love. Giselle is going to prove to a new acquaintance the value of a romantic relationship, but at the same time she has no idea how much she herself will change. Meanwhile, her fiancé is looking for her everywhere, with whom the girl was going to live happily ever after.

The film plays out rather funny the stereotypes with which the old works of the Walt Disney studio are stuffed, while the irony in the film coexists with a sincere love for the animation heritage. The charming Amy Adams had a difficult task - to embody the collective image of the Disney princess, and the actress did an excellent job. Her Giselle learns to survive in an unfamiliar world and gradually transforms from a meek dreamer into a strong-willed character.

8. Snow White: Revenge of the Dwarfs

  • USA, 2012.
  • Adventure fantasy, comedy.
  • Duration: 106 minutes.
  • IMDb: 5, 6.

The evil queen Clementanna is going to marry a rich prince from a neighboring kingdom in order to improve the financial situation of her own state. But her stepdaughter Snow White, expelled from the palace for her youth and beauty, is going to prevent her and is preparing a civil coup with the support of the seven dwarfs.

2012 was marked by the release of two stories about Snow White on the big screens at once. In March, the audience was shown the film "Snow White: Revenge of the Dwarfs" with Lily Collins and Julia Roberts from the director with a very outstanding visual approach Tarsem Singh. And six months later, a somewhat more brutal film "Snow White and the Huntsman" appeared.

9. Snow White and the hunter

King Magnus marries the beautiful captive Ravenna. However, the woman, who turns out to be an evil witch, cunningly kills the ruler and takes his place on the throne, and puts the royal daughter in a high tower. She manages to escape into an enchanted forest, where she is found by the hunter Eric, the handsome Prince William and a company of dwarfs.

Not only are both films built on approximately the same principle, but Lily Collins was also considered for the main role in Snow White and the Huntsman. But in the end, Kristen Stewart was chosen. The young director Rupert Sanders did not quite succeed in the atmosphere and the general production, but the picture can be watched for the sake of a bright cast.

10. Maleficent

  • USA, 2014.
  • Adventure fantasy.
  • Duration: 97 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 0.

The young forest fairy Maleficent meets the boy Stefan from the human world. Tender friendship gradually develops into love, but one day the grown-up young man despicably betrays his girlfriend in order to become king. The enraged sorceress bewitches Stefan's newborn daughter, but later regrets her deed.

The game remake of the classic animated film The Sleeping Beauty was conceived as an attempt to tell a fairy tale from a different point of view. Therefore, the story of Princess Aurora fades into the background (although it remains an important part of the plot), and the villainess Maleficent, played by the exquisite Angelina Jolie, becomes the main character.

11. Cinderella

  • USA, 2015.
  • Melodrama, musical, fantasy.
  • Duration: 105 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 9.

Ella, a modest and kind-hearted girl, is left an orphan early. Living in her own house, she has to serve the arrogant stepmother Lady Tremaine and her unpleasant daughters - Drizella and Anastasia. A big royal ball is due to take place soon, where Ella hopes to meet the handsome apprentice they recently met in the woods. Evil relatives do everything to prevent the girl from going to the holiday, but the eccentric God Fairy unexpectedly comes to the aid of the orphan.

Director Kenneth Branagh (the general public knows him as Professor Lokons from "Harry Potter") tried his best to bring novelty. It was decided to completely abandon the talking animals, which in the original cartoon of 1950 attracted all the attention. Instead, the writers focused on the heroine's relationship with the prince. Not everything turned out well, but the special effects are really impressive, and the familiar characters, especially the stepmother performed by Cate Blanchett, are deeper and more interesting in the new version.

12. Beauty and the Beast

  • USA, 2017.
  • Melodrama, musical, fantasy.
  • Duration: 129 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 1.

The well-read beauty Belle does not want to become the wife of the arrogant braggart Gaston. Instead, the heroine wants to learn a lot and travel. One day, on the way to the fair, her father is lost in the middle of the forest and finds himself in the castle of a terrible monster. The monster agrees to let the old man go, but only if Belle becomes a prisoner. Gradually, the girl realizes that her jailer is not so bad, and the castle itself is full of mysteries. Among them are friendly talking utensils and an unusual rose that slowly loses its petals.

Sophisticated Emma Watson, like no one else, approached the role of Belle in the remake of the 1991 Oscar-winning cartoon. But the actress's modest singing abilities let the actress down, and her musical performances came out incomparably worse than they were (earlier, Belle was voiced by the professional soloist Paige O'Hara). And the tape itself turned out to be nothing more than a deliberately complicated retelling of the original, which was much more logical.

Nevertheless, the picture is quite capable of entertaining children and adults: it has a lot of humor, beautiful scenery and costumes, and familiar heroes are played and voiced by honored artists - Emma Thompson, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen and others.
