7 SEAL phrases that will get you into action
7 SEAL phrases that will get you into action

On the resource Inc.com appeared material of Brent Glasson, a former "Navy seal". Concurrently, he is also the marketing director of one company, but this is less important for us. He shared seven Seals' wisdoms that motivate soldiers. And these words can motivate many of us.

The only easy day was yesterday

One of the most famous sayings of "fur seals". When you go to your goal, every day can be a challenge. If you wake up every day thinking that you are ready for the challenges and they will make you better, you can achieve any goal.

Get comfortable being uncomfortable

One of the exercises in training "cats" is called "water torture". You hold hands with other soldiers and plunge into the water. There you are until the early stages of hypothermia. The initial training phases assume this exercise will be done every day. It teaches you to ignore discomfort and focus on the task at hand.

When I started running a business, I faced uncomfortable situations many times. Awkward conversations with subordinates, lawsuits or dissatisfaction with demanding shareholders. Discomfort can come in many forms. The sooner you learn not to be afraid of him, the more confident you will become.

Don't run to your death

Seals often use this phrase. And this is not a metaphor. In combat conditions, the load on the body can be super heavy. Therefore, having a goal, it is very important to slowly approach its implementation. The same applies to life situations. Even if you have a plan, take your time, be smarter and don't drive yourself to death.

Have a shared sense of purpose

Everything is changing. Employees come and go. New technologies are emerging. There are so many moving parts around you, and it is very important to find people who have the same goals as you and share the same ideals. But by finding like-minded people, you will become much closer to success.

Move, shoot, communicate

"SEALs" must perfectly master three actions:

  1. Move: the team must work as one coherent mechanism.
  2. Shoot: no comment.
  3. Communicate: The team must be in constant communication.

The same philosophy can be applied to business and work. The team must work together and adapt in time to changing conditions. Which brings us to the next point.

The plan works until the first contact with the enemy (No plan survives first contact with the enemy)

This is a statement by the German commander of the First World War, Helmut von Moltke. Mike Tyson once said the same:

We each have a plan until you get punched in the face.

This is why training and preparation is even more important than a well thought out plan.

Everything is at stake. All in, all the time

Being a good fighter is not enough to be part of the SEAL team. You have to sacrifice everything just to survive another day. You cannot become an outstanding person (if you have such a goal) without taking risks. Only by putting everything on the line, you can win even more.

Do our military forces have sayings that can be applied in real life?
