However, at that time, Berry did not speak English well and this would interfere with work, since almost the entire cast was American.

Then the picture was offered to be removed to the husband of actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, director Ivan Attal. The latter turned the novel into a light and very French dramedy in spirit.
