Cast iron pans and pots last a long time, but over time they begin to rust. With just three products found in every kitchen, rust can be easily removed.
You will need:
- 1 potato tuber;
- coarse salt;
- vegetable oil.
You will stain the table during the cleaning process, so it is best to cover it with old newspapers.
First, add more salt to the skillet, but do not remove the bag too far: later you will have to add more. Then cut the potato tuber in half, cut it down and start peeling. Don't forget the edges and the handle.
The salt will become dirty very soon, so it makes sense to rinse the dishes and repeat the procedure.
When the dishes are clean, rinse and dry them. Put on low heat for a minute to evaporate any remaining moisture.
Next, pour in a small amount of oil and rub it with a paper towel over the entire inner surface. Remove excess oil and simmer for half an hour.
When the dishes have cooled down, wipe off any remaining oil.
To prevent rust from reoccurring, repeat baking oiled dishes each time after using them. Keep it away from moisture.
