Patch app adds portrait mode to any iPhone

Not so long ago, iOS 10.1 was released, in which the portrait mode finally appeared. Unfortunately, only iPhone 7 Plus owners can use this feature. The Patch app partly corrects this unfairness and allows almost all users of Apple gadgets to create beautiful portraits with a blurred background.

Patch works on neural networks in accordance with the latest trends. Clever algorithms identify the central subject of a photo and overwrite everything else.

Patch does not know how to work directly with the camera, so you have to take a photo first and then upload it to the app. By the way, the processing process takes about 7 seconds.

The best results are achieved with photographs taken under near-ideal lighting conditions. My experience has shown that if the photo is dark or blurry, then the automatic blur is likely to work not in the best way and will blur either the wrong thing or not completely.

The white spots in the screenshot on the right are exactly the places that the blur effect has bypassed. However, you can manually fix the flaws in neural networks. To do this, click on the brush icon and manually process the photo. There are two tools - a brush and an eraser. The first removes blur, the second adds. Even in the manual processing mode, five options for the intensity of the blur are available.

Patch is compatible with most of Apple's gadgets and is free. However, the free version adds a watermark to the processed photos. If you want to get rid of it, you have to pay $ 1.
