At the developer conference, Samsung unveiled the long-awaited flexible smartphone for the first time. It works on the basis of Infinity Flex Display technology and in its original form looks more like a tablet. But it can easily be folded in half.
In total, the device has two displays. One is the main one, 7, 3-inch. The second screen is used to show information when the gadget takes the form of a phone.
Pixel density standard: 420 ppi. When folded, the resolution is 840 × 1960, and when unfolded, it is 1536 × 2152. Aspect ratios are 21: 9 and 4, 2: 3, respectively.
Up to three applications can be displayed on the device screen at the same time. Samsung has promised to launch mass production of foldable smartphones in the coming months.
Google has already announced official support for these phones. Therefore, Android should work correctly on them.
Apart from Samsung, the foldable device is supposedly going to be released by Huawei next year. Lenovo and Xiaomi are also preparing something similar. And LG is working on flexible OLED displays and TVs that can be rolled up like a newspaper.
