Rain gauge, self-adhesive ruler, needle gauge, curvimeter and other useful tools.
1. Needle pattern
It turns out that ugly gaps when trimming tiles and laminates near pipes, door frames and other complex obstacles are easy to avoid. All that is needed to create a flawless connection is to attach the template by copying the path, and then attach it to the material, circle and cut.
2. Digital vernier caliper
If you find it difficult to read the size of parts and workpieces from an analog caliper, get yourself an electronic one. Unlike usual, it instantly displays measurements in millimeters or inches on the screen. Its division value is 0.01 mm, and the error over the entire range is no more than 0.05 mm. There is a complete set with a case and without.
3. Articulated ruler
Accurately trimming materials like tiles or laminate flooring can be a chore. However, with such a line, this activity will only bring pleasure. The device consists of four segments that move relative to each other. This allows you to align them along the contours of the abutments and, after transferring to the material, make an accurate cut.
4. Protractor
Another difficulty during work is marking and copying corners. By eye, and even with the help of a simple protractor, this is not so easy. A metal goniometer, combined with a ruler with a length of 140 mm, allows you to mark workpieces accurately and quickly. The digital scale on the protractor and the ruler is applied to both sides, so you can count from either side.
5. Template for holes
Guessing with cutouts for sockets or pipes when laying tiles is simply unrealistic, marking with a tape measure is quite difficult. But with this special template, markup becomes fun. All you need is to attach one of the rulers to the adjacent tile, and then set the guide exactly along the hole and transfer the measurements to the element to be trimmed.
6. Self-adhesive ruler
If you have ever had to draw a scale in millimeters yourself for some DIY projects, then you will appreciate these self-adhesive rulers. They have a length of 1 to 6 meters and are easy to attach thanks to the adhesive backing. Useful for various homemade products and in situations where you need to accurately measure something.
7. Combined elbow
The accuracy of the 90 ° and 45 ° angles when cutting materials determines the quality of the junction of the elements. To avoid gaps between the plinths and platbands or to tightly fit the joining parts in the manufacture of furniture, it is convenient to use such a square. It has double markings and a movable stop with a bubble level for precise orientation in space.
8. Double thickness gauge
Marking parallel lines, measuring the size with a tape measure and putting risks on both edges of the workpiece, is long and tedious. The thickness gauge copes with this task much faster. All you need to do for this is to set the desired size on the scale, insert a needle or a pen rod into the stock and draw along the workpiece, pressing the parallel stop to the edge. Moreover, thanks to a pair of rods, you can mark two lines at once.
9. Marker with a long shaft
If, when marking, you tried to trace the holes with an ordinary pencil or pen, then you probably know that it is inconvenient to do this, and the accuracy leaves much to be desired. The long, thin colored permanent markers solve the problem: they fit even in miniature holes and templates, allowing you to trace them perfectly.
10. Tread depth gauge
It is possible to determine the wear of tires by eye only when there is almost nothing left of the tread. In order not to bring to this and not to risk your life on the road, it is convenient to use a compact tread depth gauge. With its help, it is easy to monitor tire wear by periodically inserting a dipstick into the gap between the tread elements and comparing the readings with the recommended ones.
11. Rain gauge
Do you want to build a home weather station or need to measure the level of precipitation? This is a simple, durable plastic conical beaker with a peg attachment. The water collected in it after the rain will show how many millimeters of precipitation fell. For greater accuracy, it is advisable to place the rain gauge in an open area and at a height of about 1 meter.
12. Curvimeter
Unlike straight lines, curves cannot be measured with a ruler. If you are hiking and tracing routes using paper maps, this unusual instrument with a dial will definitely come in handy. It is enough to press the roller at its end to the starting point, draw along the measured line, and the curvimeter will show its length. The main thing is not to confuse the scale and look at the scale that corresponds to the map.
13. Suspended level
Marking long horizontal lines with a laser level is as easy as shelling pears. In his absence, such a primitive device as a suspended level will help out. Having hooked it to a fishing line or cord, you need to fix one end, and align the other, focusing on the bubble of the device. A thread with a spool is not included in the kit, but finding them is unlikely to be a problem.
