Usually mobile gadgets are used as auxiliary devices for working with computers, but sometimes it happens the other way around. Today we will make a Mac wireless keyboard that can be connected to iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, game consoles and various Android devices.

Such a magical transformation is possible thanks to a small utility called Typeeto by Eltima. It is notable for the fact that it is installed only on the Mac: mobile gadgets connect to it like a regular Bluetooth keyboard and work with all the ensuing consequences. That is, with an active connection, the on-screen keyboard on mobile devices is hidden, support for hot keys, playback control appears in the system and applications, and in addition, some exclusive features like a shared clipboard are added.

The initial setup is very simple. You need to turn on Bluetooth on your mobile device, open the settings on the Mac and create a pair, and then connect from the gadget to the Mac (only for the first time).

Next, select the desired device from the drop-down menu, and the Mac keyboard instantly becomes a Bluetooth keyboard. You can bind several devices to Typeeto at once and then just switch between them. If you switch to another application on your Mac, the keyboard will perform its normal function. Therefore, to quickly connect to a mobile device, it is convenient to use shortcuts (you can specify any combination).

The scenario of using such a bundle is most justified to work with Apple TV or game consoles, which are completely devoid of convenient text input capabilities. But I don't have an Apple TV, and with PS3, due to its closed nature, Typeeto does not work, so I ran the test on the iPad.

I can say that the connection to the device (provided that I was working with another application on a Mac) takes just two or three seconds. At the same time, switching between devices is available through hot keys. All the declared functions also work: you can type in notes, open your favorite sites in Safari, use Spotlight search and go to the desktop.

Due to iOS restrictions on emulation, unfortunately, you cannot change the input language using the shortcut (you have to use the on-screen keyboard for this) and switch between applications (the standard OS X shortcut will work). Otherwise, I did not notice any special flaws.

I must admit that the situations when Typeeto can come in handy are quite specific and not everyone encounters them, but if they arise, the application will work one hundred percent.
