How to draw a snowflake with a pencil or felt-tip pen
What do you need
- Black drawing paper;
- simple pencil;
- white pencil;
- ruler;
- white gel pen.
How to draw
To make the snowflake perfect, proportions and symmetry must be strictly observed in the drawing process. It is convenient to make marks with a simple pencil.
To begin with, draw a vertical line 8 cm long with a white pencil on a ruler and on top of it two lines of the same length crosswise, all of them should intersect exactly in the middle at an angle of 60 °.
Make marks on each of the six resulting rays 2 cm from the center of the snowflake. Connect the dots in pairs so that a regular hexagon comes out.
Similarly, draw a small hexagon, offsetting 0.5 cm from the center on each ray. From the middle of each side of the small hexagon, draw a straight line to the corners of the large hexagon to form a star.
Add another, middle hexagon, departing 1 cm from the center of the snowflake on each ray. Draw three more lines through the center, this time 5 cm long each: they should lie exactly between the previous rays.
The thickness of the lines can be varied, some corners can be rounded, then the shape will turn out to be more interesting. For example, try to smooth the transitions from the sides of a large hexagon to the rays of a snowflake, as shown in the image.
Make marks on the long beams at a distance of 4 cm from the center and draw lines from them to the points of intersection of the short beams with the sides of the large hexagon. You will have one more star.
Outside the star, mark the short beams at an equal distance from each other. From the point closest to the shape, draw two short lines parallel to its sides. Repeat on each beam.
Draw a little shorter segments from the next mark, and even shorter segments from the third, so that in each corner of the star you end up with a “Christmas tree”.
Decorate each long ray: at the very tip, put short strokes, draw a hexagonal thickening and paint close to them, and add a boomerang-like corner behind the figure with a side of about 1 cm.
Under each "boomerang" mark a very small corner, and draw lines towards it, diverging at the same angle from each top of the large star.
Return to the center of the snowflake: from the middle of each side of the middle hexagon, draw lines to the corners of the large one. These lines can be rounded a little.
Trace the main contours of the snowflake with a white gel pen, and leave the secondary ones in the pencil.

How to draw a snowflake with paints
What do you need
- Paper;
- simple pencil;
- eraser;
- watercolor paints;
- brushes;
- a coin or other round template with a diameter of about 3 cm;
- a spray cap or other circular template with a diameter of about 6 cm;
- ruler.
How to draw
Circle the coin with a simple pencil.
Trace the lid with a simple pencil, the centers of both circles should match.
Draw a vertical segment along the ruler through the center of both circles, put points at the intersection of the lines. Mark at an equal distance from them four more points on each of the circles, indicating the corners of the future hexagons.
Connect the points from the previous step into hexagons and erase construction lines.
Paint on a medium brush with light blue paint and draw around the inner, small hexagon. Draw a circle in its middle and use segments to connect its outline to the corners of the shape.
Extend each line to the corner of the large hexagon, and then direct it parallel to the adjacent segment so that the lines intersect crosswise, as shown in the figure.
Draw the entire shape in the same way. You will end up with something like a flower.
Draw spirals along the outline of the large hexagon, curling from each corner to the center of the adjacent sides.
Draw long rays from the corners of the hexagon.
Decorate the beam with a droplet tip. Place three marks at an equal distance from each other and draw lines diverging from them: the closer to the center of the shape, the shorter. Repeat for each beam.
Below the lines from the previous step, draw the curls, similar to the spirals you drew along the outline of the hexagon.
Check the drawing, add decorative elements: dots at the end of each line, circles inside a hexagon and whatever your creative imagination tells you.

How to paint a snowflake with glue or concealer
In this instruction, we will not talk about the geometry of the snowflake, but about the original technique, thanks to which we get a "negative" of the picture: we paint over only the background, and the snowflake itself remains white.
What do you need
- Watercolor paper;
- paints;
- blue pencil;
- wide brush;
- container for mixing paints;
- an annular shape (for example, a roll of tape) or two round shapes of different sizes;
- scissors;
- a glass of water;
- rubber glue grade A or masking liquid for watercolors;
- a brush for applying glue (if necessary).
How to draw
First you need to outline the contours of the drawing. Use a blue pencil to trace the inside and outside of the shape to make two circles.
Draw three lines through the center of the circles so that they intersect at an angle of 60 °.
With glue or masking fluid, start drawing the snowflake from the center, based on the pencil markings. You can create any patterns, the main thing is to repeat them symmetrically on each of the six axes.
In this technique, a lot of separately located small elements will look spectacular.
When you finish painting the snowflake, let it dry well, otherwise all the work will be done in vain. Mix colors for the background: we recommend making it blue, but you can choose the colors you like.
Cover the sheet with paint over the glue. Dry well.
Carefully remove the adhesive from the paper. You will have a white pattern on a colored background.

How to draw a snowflake with toothpaste
This technique is not used to paint on paper, but on a window or mirror. First we will make a template, and then we will apply a snow pattern along its outline.
What do you need
- Toothpaste;
- paper;
- scissors;
- two containers with water;
- Toothbrush;
- hairdryer.
How to draw
Cut a random snowflake out of a piece of paper.
Squeeze out white toothpaste into a container, dilute with water to the consistency of liquid sour cream.
Moisten the snowflake thoroughly with clean water. You can add a little soap to help the paper adhere better to the glass.
Apply a wet snowflake to the window or mirror you want to decorate, press and smooth.
Dip a toothbrush in a mixture of paste and water, slide your finger along the bristles from top to bottom so that the spray falls onto the glass. Experiment with the brush-to-window distance and pressure. The size of the drops and the density with which they fall on the surface depend on this.
Excess and too large drops can be removed with a damp cloth, or you can walk over them with wet movements, imitating frost on the window.
Dry the splash and paper with a hair dryer and peel off the snowflakes. Transparent prints will remain on the window against a "snowy" background.
