A few days ago, I tried Spotify Running, a service that cuts music based on your pace. What came of this, I will tell you in this article.
People who have been running for a long time will understand me. Over time, you start to enjoy the process itself, and add-ons like music or podcasts are not needed. So it was with me. However, when I returned to running after a long break, it turned out that I needed support again. It was podcasts.
But Spotify recently announced a new service. It selects music based on your pace and even offers specially created playlists from Tiesto and other DJs. The latter was not interesting to me, but the music that adjusts to my tempo is cool. I realized this two years ago when I tried the TrailMix app, which speeds up or slows down music for the same purpose. The application worked rather clumsy, sometimes changing the music so much that even your favorite songs were not immediately recognized.
After testing Spotify, I realized that the service had taken a different path. It doesn't change the tempo of the music - instead, Spotify Running offers playlists to suit any pace. Once launched, the app will determine the current tempo. You can skip this step by manually selecting it later.
There are many playlists. They are divided into both music genres and other Spotify-style categories. Names like Strong and Independent, Bright Morning Mix and Running in a Good Mood are common. Moreover, there is a separate Running Originals tab. It contains playlists created by the DJs I talked about earlier. Unlike the rest, the music in them speeds up or slows down depending on the change in tempo. Since it is electronic, there is no problem with that. If you change the tempo in other playlists, the music will also change.
We didn't manage to run a lot with the Ukrainian EDGE Internet. To give Spotify its due: it tried hard to download tracks, but playback still stopped five to seven times each song.
I was somewhat surprised by the fact that Spotify did not go further and did not cooperate, for example, with Runkeeper. It would be great if the running assistant automatically starts when you start the music. Or vice versa, when Runkeeper was launched, music was played along with the pace of the run. But even without that functionality, Spotify Running is a great thing. With the advent of 3G Internet, I will only run with it, and I strongly recommend it to those who are allowed to try the service on the Internet right now.
It's not so easy to connect Spotify in Russia and Ukraine, but here I told you how to do it. Now there is a promotion for which you can purchase three months of premium subscription for $ 0.99. Spotify Running only works for premium users.
