How to use a tampon for a real man

Let's talk about survival. About difficult hikes, emergency situations, about trials for real men who find themselves face to face with the wild nature. It would seem, what does the tampons have to do with it? No, we were not mistaken with the title. Now we will tell and show everything. The topic of today's article is how to use a tampon for survival in extreme conditions. Khanjam access is denied.

So, first thing: forget everything you knew about tampons so far. It's difficult. But imagine that you first saw this thing, for example, in an online survival gadget store. Treat it accordingly. Now let's look at specific examples: how can a tampon be useful. You will be surprised how many hidden possibilities it conceals in itself.

1. Wound dressing

The tampons are sterile. Their packaging is airtight and waterproof. They are designed to absorb as much liquid as possible. All this makes the tampon an excellent material for urgent dressing. It is known that tampons were even used for the initial treatment of bullet wounds during hostilities - if there was no other medical equipment at hand.

2. Primitive water filter

Of course, a tampon filter will not save you from heavy metals and chemical contamination. But he will cope remarkably well with water purification from impurities and small particles of suspension. If the water in the only available source is dirty, muddy, littered with small debris, build a simple filter from a plastic bottle and a gutted swab.

We put a tampon in the neck of the cut bottle. We make a small hole in the lid, then fill in the dirty water.

Kindling fire

It's no secret that cotton is highly flammable. From one tampon, if you fluff it properly, you get 3-4 small piles of material for kindling.

And most importantly, as we have already said, the tampon is packed tightly, that is, your kindling will always be dry. If you pour it with gasoline or a mixture for a fire, then things will go even more lively.

Filter straw to drink from the stream

Some tampons are additionally packed in a plastic container with a straw. We will not specify why this was done initially, we are interested in how it can be used.

If you do not have time to properly filter the water in the way described above, you can make a filter tube and drink directly from the reservoir. We place part of the gutted tampon in a plastic box from it, tamp it slightly and fit the tube on top:

We repeat: this method will not cleanse the water from chemical and biological contaminants, but if there are no other options, the tampon will provide at least mechanical cleaning.

5. Candle wick

The lanyard of the tampon (string in the center) can serve as a wick for an improvised candle. In the photo below, animal fat was used as a filler:

After the cord was soaked in grease and was successfully ignited, the candle burned for another 20 minutes. And part of the cord still remained, just the fat burned out.

6. Rope

The already mentioned lanyard can also serve as a rope. Of course, this is not a nautical rope, nevertheless, the strength of such a rope is quite decent.

In the photo, the cord was used to set a trap for a small animal. In general, there can be a huge number of cases when you need a small, thin, but strong enough rope.

7. Dart

For many centuries, darts have served faithfully to all who have had to survive in the harsh conditions of the wild. In capable hands, it is a deadly weapon.

To make the simplest, lightest dart for hunting small rodents, lizards, amphibians and even birds, make "plumage" from a tampon. You can fix it with the same lanyard rope.

8. Making a natural deepening for water

It is not so easy to find a container for water in nature. And sometimes it can be vital. Such an impromptu pan can be made using a tampon, or rather, a part of it:

Take an empty plastic applicator from the tampon, fan the coals on a piece of log. We burn out a container of a suitable size. It took the author about 30 minutes to build a container to hold 2 cups of water.

9. Sealed bag for matches

In damp and humid conditions, it is very important to keep matches and kindling dry. The bag in which the tampon is packed is excellent for this purpose, it is made of waterproof material and is sealed.

Place matches or other small items that you want to keep dry inside. Then pull the open end tightly with a string-rope from the center of the swab:

10. Float

The tampon is also suitable for fishing in extreme conditions. You can make a float from it.

When you have a rope and a homemade hook at hand, the rod is almost ready. It remains to build a float. We take the packaging from the tampon. We open it, tighten the edge tightly. To prevent the air inside from escaping, you can add a little cotton wool from the tampon itself in place of the constriction. We attach to our "line":
