Microsoft has released an Android app for its Flow service to automate workflows.
Back in April, Microsoft introduced the web version of the Flow service, which allows you to automate routine workflows like IFTTT. Then it came to iOS: the client for Apple's mobile operating system debuted in June. Now the turn of Android has come - the application is already in Google Play.
So what exactly is Flow? We remember that Microsoft also has in its arsenal CAP, or Conditional Action Programmer, which in its ideology is close to IFTTT. It may seem strange that Microsoft is developing two services of the same type at once, but upon closer inspection, the difference will become obvious. Flow focuses on interoperability with Microsoft programs and services such as Office 365, Dynamics CRM, PowerApps, Yammer, and other business-oriented solutions including MailChimp, GitHub, Salesforce and many more.
The mobile application for Android or iOS allows you to create various scenarios and reactions to their implementation, view the activity history, and set up notifications. The capabilities of Microsoft Flow are clearly visible in the screenshots from Google Play. Many different actions and reactions can be used to automate work situations. For example, a file uploaded to Dropbox will automatically get a copy in SharePoint, and your colleagues will receive a notification in Slack - this is just one of Flow's typical tasks.
In CAP, the emphasis is on simple users and automating their actions using natural language. In terms of its development, CAP is still noticeably lagging behind Flow, but Microsoft's persistent interest in this area suggests that both projects have prospects.
