Each of us comes across bad news from time to time. Sometimes they are so bad that you can't believe it right away - it's true or a bad dream. No one is immune from bad news, but you can learn to cope with its consequences.
So the bad news rang the phone, flew in by email, or even knocked on the door. Everyone's reaction is different, but if you have not learned Zen, most likely it will be panic. Follow the advice and you will find a solution. At least it won't get any worse.
Get away from the keyboard
The first reaction to stress is to share with other people, so as not to go through the crisis alone. In any case, the internet is not the best place to capture your hysterical reactions to problems. You may think that the only correct words, chosen at the peak of tension, are important, but in fact, having posted them on Twitter or Facebook, you can mess things up and then really regret it.
Decide nothing
There are times when problems require an immediate response - in which case, willy-nilly, you will have to move. But if this is not your case, postpone the decision for at least a day, or even better, sleep.
In any unclear situation, go to bed.
During sleep, your brain will process information and find an emotionally acceptable solution for you. In any case, decisions made in a state of passion are rarely correct.
Express your feelings
Lock yourself in a soundproofed room, ask loved ones not to pay attention, or run into the field and throw out whatever is bubbling inside. This is not the time to force yourself to be positive if there is a storm of emotions inside. We need to get rid of them, and only then motivate ourselves to “everything will be fine”.
You can burst into tears or scream - the main thing is, do not harm yourself and others. After this trash, you can start solving problems with a clear head and a clear mind.
Time to reevaluate
If bad news unsettles you, it’s time to think about whether you’re heading in the right direction. Maybe your goals are not really that important, and the chosen path was a mistake?
If you’re surprised to find that your goal isn’t worth the trouble, calm down faster. If you are still confident that the game is worth the candle, this reappraisal will strengthen your resolve to move on and not give up.
Take the next step
Bad news reminds us that we do not know how things will turn at one time or another, and it may, and does. Then it seems to us that the problems have gotten out of control and have grown too big to be managed.
If you feel that this weight is gradually pressing you into the ground, just take a step back. Start with how it all happened and gradually move on to one single correct step.
Just think about what needs to be done first, what will be right now.
Decided? Continue driving step by step. In the end, you will find how to get out of your personal hell.
