In the world of schedulers, there is a huge number of applications: from ordinary to-do lists to powerful systems, working with which itself takes a lot of time. Wunderlist has everything you need, but nothing more.
The Wunderlist was once a simple to-do list. Now the application can do much more than just remind of plans, but it has not lost its lightness and simplicity.
Task structure
At the core of working with Wunderlist is the to-do list. This is a project within which individual tasks are created. For each of them, a lead time and a notification period are set. Set reminders for recurring events: once a day, week, month and year. Any customization is available. You can set reminders after a few days.
Lists (projects with multiple tasks) are grouped into folders that differentiate family, work, hobbies, and whatever else you need. For some, two levels are not enough, but if you don't go crazy over planning each step, that's what you need.
Each task is broken down into sub-tasks. The free version has no more than 25 subtasks, the paid version is not limited. Subtasks are not displayed in the general list, they cannot be categorized by importance and urgency. This is a self-checklist to see if you are missing out on anything.
You can add a note to the task, attach a file (in the free version up to 5 MB per file, in the paid version there are no restrictions).
Hashtags are added to the name of the tasks, with which it is easier to search for outstanding tasks.
Checklists
Scheduled tasks form several checklists.
- Today. Daily tasks you want to do today.
- Featured. These are the tasks that you marked with an asterisk when setting. Things to focus on first.
- A week. A to-do list for planning a few days ahead.
Delegate and co-edit lists
Each list can be shared with multiple users of the application. They will be able to view tasks, add comments to each of them, close completed tasks.
You can assign a task executor from among the users who have access to the list. You receive a notification about the assigned task, the task remains in your lists, so you can always control the progress.
Desktop and mobile versions
Wunderlist is a cross-platform application. The design in the mobile and desktop versions is not much different, except that you have to make an extra tap on the smartphone screen to set the task completion time and the notification date.
pros
- Wunderlist is easy to learn. The planner solves simple tasks: keep track of what has been done and what has not. It is not overloaded with functions, so everything important is learned in 20 minutes.
- The application has a simple task structure. It is not enough for a project management program, but these functions are enough for organizing the main tasks.
- Delegate and collaborate on lists. Functions may not be enough for work, but for everyday issues - an ideal solution.
Minuses
- You cannot postpone a task for an hour or another day in the desktop version. To do this, you need to change the due date of the task and set a new notification time. In the mobile version, you can move notifications for a few minutes or an hour.
- You cannot schedule multiple notifications for the same task within one day.
- You cannot mark the start and end dates of the task.
Wunderlist is primarily a to-do list, not a project management program. It is convenient to control and check yourself with it, but it does not tie your whole life to the application in your smartphone.
This is a balanced app for those who want to remember everything, but are not ready to turn planning the day into a separate task.
