In the new macOS, when night mode is enabled in applications that support this function, the interface design changes to dark. In some programs it looks good, in others it doesn't.

Standard features do not allow you to add a separate application to exceptions, but you can still do this using the free LightsOff utility.

After installation, its icon will appear in the menu bar, from where you can quickly switch between light and dark modes of the interface without having to dig into the settings. If desired, you can also configure the switching of topics on a schedule by checking the box next to the Scheduled option.

App Specific mode is used to add applications to exceptions. After turning it on, two more additional buttons appear in the menu, with which you can assign exceptions for the dark and light modes by checking the boxes opposite the applications from the list.

For example, if you want the Mail interface to remain light in dark mode, click Dark and then check the application in the list. Or, say, you need a dark look in Terminal in light mode. Then you should press the Light button and put a checkmark in front of the application name.

The specifics of LightsOff work is such that not only the design of the active program window changes, but also the menu bar and dock. To some extent, this can be considered a minus, but here everything depends on system limitations. After all, in fact, the application just often switches to night mode and back, depending on the selected settings.

LightsOff is distributed free of charge, and you can download the utility on the developer's website.
